^^ MTBF is a joke. Most drives have significantly higher failure rates than suggested. Seagate doesn't have a good track record lately either with the huge number of failures caused by firmware not too long ago (though their tech support is based in the US and knowledgeable).

seagate makes a fine drive. i spend a good portion of my mornings routing 10 year old drives to be wiped, and well over 90% of the seagates come back without the first error and can actually be used again.western digital and maxtor are literally a coin flip as to whether or not the drive can be saved. they keep the e-recycling companies in business i tells ya
