paging optmusprimer i like the trucks. with they were a little quicker though
8/14/2009 12:38:35 AM
I like them too, that truck is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been approved for financing and set everything in motion, but I haven't signed anything binding me to spending well over the $21k over the next few years. That's a lot of money, and I want you guys to be assholes and tell me why I shouldn't.

On a related but completely unhelpful note, there's a bright blue one that always parked down in a particular spot of the coliseum deck close to the theatre.Where's/what's the mileage? Found it, 6kV ? The report that was run on 8/14/2009 says it's at 5,977 miles. And the blue one? It used to be parked in those two separated spots right beside the first upper side entrance of the coliseum deck. I've heard over time that you'll never get a deal/steal from Carmax and pay an ok price, but they're worth it as far as correct history/up-to-date maintenance is concerned.[Edited on August 14, 2009 at 1:02 AM. 8/14/2009 12:53:34 AM
^ where?Isn't Carmax ripping me off somehow? Shouldn't I just get a loan for half that much from the bank and pull a baller truck off craigslist? How about the truck, what's wrong with it?[Edited on August 14, 2009 at 12:57 AM. Reason : alabama, '08 and 7k miles]
8/14/2009 12:56:55 AM
You can find a much better deal from an individual, more than likely
8/14/2009 2:08:35 AM
I've never thought that a dealership should make a few G's for spending an hour or two on paperwork and giving a car a detail. Find a private party and save some money. Buying from stealerships is a rookie move.
8/14/2009 2:12:24 AM
too much plastic around the bottom for me
8/14/2009 8:01:32 AM
I'd go the other way and get a 4wd, little worse gas mileage but would hold it's value better. I'd also buy private party.
8/14/2009 8:11:59 AM
it'd also be tough to find one w/ that low of mileage as a private party salehowever, i wouldn't let mileage scare me off from a tacoma as long as it's in good condition
8/14/2009 8:14:53 AM
I had a red '08 and loved it but go ahead and get used to a few things1- its not going to get much faster, period without spending $$$$2- the paint is going to chip all to hell, in 8k miles i was super dissapointed with the amount of chips
8/14/2009 9:10:39 AM
Those things are ugly as sin. Other than that, you really can't go wrong with a Tacoma. Buy a 4WD.
8/14/2009 9:28:57 AM
mehspend half that on something similar. you'll thank me.
8/14/2009 10:01:40 AM
Why not just get the 07+ Tundra?http://www.carmax.com/enUS/view-car/default.html?AVi=0&id=5969141&N=4294967007+4294966485+4294967039&D=90&zip=27606&sY=2007-2010&No=0&Ep=search:findcar:home&Rp=R&PP=20&sV=List&Us=14&CD=10+240+190+15+9&Q=d5558e54-09e7-45fa-be07-5f676bdbb067
8/14/2009 10:07:10 AM
Damn. Now that is a truck...I meant that in response to my experience with having driven a Ford Ranger with ~100hp. [Edited on August 14, 2009 at 10:13 AM. Reason : .]
8/14/2009 10:12:10 AM
Get a 4wd, buy private party, and if you're good and ready to spend 21K, limit your budget to 15K and stick to it. You'll thank yourself later when your monthly payments are lower.
8/14/2009 10:44:56 AM
bought that this past weekend. Wanted a new one but they said they couldn't keep any 09's on the lot. It's an 07 with about 18k miles on it. Toyota of Wilmington wanted 26,999 for it but I got them down to 23,100 which is just under trade in value. KBB showed 28,999 for the price to expect from a dealer.
8/14/2009 10:52:23 AM
my parents need to trade in their '86 dakota for the cash for clunkers thing, lol.. damn thing is worthless right now otherwise
8/14/2009 10:57:38 AM
3.9 in the '86 dak?
8/14/2009 11:27:20 AM
^^ I heard honda no longer honors Cash for Clunkers.
8/14/2009 11:28:49 AM
^^ yep. is it eligible? pretty sure it is..damn thing might as well have a hole in the gas tank it goes through so much. and has 0 poewr.
8/14/2009 12:19:57 PM
i'm sure it is. i was just curious.
8/14/2009 12:21:23 PM
so basically...slick truck and i should go for it, right?
8/14/2009 12:42:55 PM
i wouldn't[Edited on August 14, 2009 at 1:07 PM. Reason : i could get a decent truck and a boat to pull behind it for $21k]
8/14/2009 1:07:12 PM
it's a nice looking truck and all, but you'll regret it about a year into that car payment i believe.
8/14/2009 1:16:05 PM
don't. you don't NEED that snazzy looking truck.save your money and get a cheaper caryou are telling the bank it is okay for them to take advantage of you because you WANT something.be a man, not a slave
8/14/2009 2:39:29 PM
There's a LOT of vehicle to be had at that price level son. I'd spend the money on something else or as ScHpEnXeL said, spend half as much on something else that will do the exact same job.Shit son, get a C5 corvette or something.
8/14/2009 2:48:04 PM
well i do specifically need a trucki want a v6, manual, 4-door extended cab and a 6' bed. I like them low because it makes it easier to haul band gear in and out of, as well as the motorcycle. the only thing it doesn't have that i wanted was 4x4, but i can do without that. even aside from looks, this truck fits the bill better than anything else i've found on craigslist or otherwise.it's also damn near brand new but some other sap already did me the favor of taking the "driven off the lot" finance hit. also, it's a toyota and will likely last well into the next 10 years. there's a lot of good points made in this thread, i definitely understand i could have a looot of truck (or like neus said a truck and a boat) for that price, but there's something to be said for such a new vehicle
8/14/2009 3:57:25 PM
there are plenty of trucks for half the price of that one that will do what you need. hell, probably a lot cheaper than that even.
8/14/2009 5:25:35 PM
im sure you could find a lightening for cheaper. every thing is better about that than the toyota
8/14/2009 5:31:24 PM
Here is what I want:6-CylManual4-door Extended/Crew cab6ft bed (i.e. no stubby beds you see on a lot of crew cabs)4x4all except the 4x4 are non-negotiableI am very open to suggestions! I like the sport style, eventually any truck I buy would be slightly lowered (if needed for access, not for style) and sway-barred. This truck has it all minus the 4x4, it's nearly new, and it looks good. I have been searching craigslist, carmax, and local dealers for months and have yet to find something that satisfies me, but I haven't really consulted you fine folks until now. What do you suggest in both trucks and where to find them?[Edited on August 14, 2009 at 6:52 PM. Reason : sdfsdf]

8/14/2009 7:29:17 PM
8/14/2009 8:05:21 PM
you sir, need a first gen cummins truck.
8/14/2009 8:13:54 PM
you could buy a separate car for each use you have for them and come out better than $24K, lol
8/14/2009 8:27:07 PM
^exactly. get an old cargo van to haul band equipment and get a fun little car as a daily driver.
8/15/2009 11:25:54 PM
actually i like your idea of buying a truck and a boat to pull behind it
8/16/2009 4:21:55 AM
go for it
8/16/2009 11:03:37 PM
8/17/2009 1:41:45 AM
ive heard it go both ways for the trade ins. as far as what they want on their lots and what they have, ive always thought they would give more money(closer to value) on like an accord or something of the like, than they would a durango or or something similar to that. ive sold a few cars to them and just ran away with the money, cause I pretty much stole them anyway
8/17/2009 4:58:27 AM
8/17/2009 10:34:58 AM
so did you get it or what?

^those wheels are about as ridiculous as a pair of plastic truck-nuts dangling from the hitch.
10/26/2009 10:51:41 AM
nope, talked myself out of it. that's a lot of money that could be better spent on multiple vehiclesalso ^^, what's the point of that front suspension clearance when the rear diff is just going to clobber anything it passes over?
10/26/2009 5:28:46 PM
lawlsthere's no intentoion for that truck to make it off the pavement
10/26/2009 5:33:16 PM
10/26/2009 6:01:05 PM
yeah foolim a little man, but guess whati got the littlest big truck around
