Okay, so I was washing my car yesterday and after washing it started drying it off and noticed splotches all over the hood, driver's side, and trunk/rear bumper. It wasn't there before I washed the car. I washed the car again, shit didn't come off. I was losing the light so I couldn't do anything else.Today on my lunch break I took the car through an automated (brushless) car wash. Didn't do any good. After work I washed the car (scrubbing furiously) with a different, stronger car wash. It kind of helped, but it also started taking off the Zaino finish.Best I can gather someone threw something at my car as they drove by when I was inside grabbing a towel to dry off the car.I'm not sure what it is, but I don't know what else to do except strip the Zaino finish off the car this weekend, claybar the whole damn car, and reapply the Zaino finish. I'll take a pic later.

... and?
8/10/2009 7:54:04 PM
just wax the motherfucker
8/10/2009 8:55:53 PM
Your best option is what you have already said. Strip the finish (I use rubbing alc or degreaser), clay, then reapply the Zaino. Just make sure in your "fury" of scrubbing that you dont induce extra swirl marks or defects.

what is a car wash?
8/10/2009 10:23:13 PM
^i think it's also known as "rain"
8/10/2009 10:27:48 PM
I think it's like that Auto Bell place where you pay $10 and give some high school kid a $2 tip to make your car not be as ugly.
8/10/2009 10:32:51 PM
the dakota went a little over a year w/o a bath
8/10/2009 10:36:57 PM
or put their knees all over your side supports
8/10/2009 10:37:46 PM
^^^lol, I would never take my car to a place like that. I bet they drop their rags and think nothing of it
8/10/2009 10:48:15 PM
at the end of the day regardless of what you do honda cant A) put decent air conditioning in a car and B ) put decent paint on a carThe sooner you come to terms the better.
8/10/2009 10:54:37 PM
^the AC does suck. It's a fucking convertible it should have strong ACZaino party anyone? I have more than enough to go around!
8/10/2009 10:57:34 PM
sooooooooooooooo much work. and then it rains.
8/10/2009 11:00:39 PM
that sounds kinda like a gay thing to do. no homo
8/10/2009 11:09:22 PM
caring about shit like this is the ultimate in [homo]
8/10/2009 11:14:33 PM
^^^that's why I have a garage...nigga.Well, one I'll be able to pull into after "modifying" the driveway. What's so gay about putting on Zaino. It's just like fucking wax. Is it gay to put wax on your car to protect the finish so the paint doesn't go to shit and hurt your resale value
8/10/2009 11:27:56 PM
lot of good its doing, doing so well you had to make a thread about reapplying it. honestly ive never had a car more than 3 years, ive bought used and will continue to do so. having a wax party was the gay thing i was talking about, and then naming the wax was to the next level. sorry if i offended you
8/11/2009 12:53:43 AM
Zaino = the gayDuragloss #105 = exact same product, but $10 cheaper, available locally, no funky application procedure and no Zaino gay.
8/11/2009 6:10:24 AM
Zaino, by definition, is not wax. It fufills the same purpose (doing it better) but it's not wax.And I don't see how Zaino was supposed to prevent something nasty from getting on the car, its not like it repels all forces?[Edited on August 11, 2009 at 8:14 AM. Reason : k]

I need to wash the Lexus this weekend Pat. I'd be more than happy to take you up on your offer

^^FTR my Acura's paint lasted about 14 years before it started going to hell, and I think it was accelerated slightly since I was living in NYC (that rain is probably worse for paint than your average rainfall).I mean it's an Acura, but I doubt the paint's different than other markets where it was badged a Honda.^Glad to hear it Stephen! How's Saturday work for you?[Edited on August 11, 2009 at 8:47 AM. Reason : yah]
8/11/2009 8:47:05 AM
I've seen a lot less Acura's pealing grossly than accord's.. so, no idea if they use the same paint or not. I only deal with interior automotive paints at work.
8/11/2009 8:48:49 AM
an acura is much more likely to be kept in a garage out of sun and rain
8/11/2009 8:58:57 AM
Saturday is good. just let me know when I have to wake up
8/11/2009 9:03:50 AM
^^I'll admit that the previous owner may have garage kept my Integra. But since I've owned it (May 1999 - present) it has always been outside.
8/11/2009 9:15:48 AM
i'm just saying that on the average, it's probably safe to say that a significantly higher percentage of acuras are garage kept than hondas
8/11/2009 9:22:00 AM
you are correct. I mentioned my Integra b/c its basically a Honda. Not like a TL or MDX which is pretty far differentiated from an Accord or Pilot these days.
8/11/2009 9:27:51 AM
ah, i see. however, that's still just a single anecdote. surely i could find a few cases of hondas as old as your integra that have been kept outside and don't have peeling paint.
8/11/2009 10:01:01 AM
I was just saying...
8/11/2009 10:20:19 AM
as was i[Edited on August 11, 2009 at 10:36 AM. Reason : anecdotal evidence ftl]

I agree waxing a car is good. When its 100 degrees outside I can think of other things to do and look the other way for another month.
8/11/2009 12:35:39 PM
I'm doing it Saturday, when the predicted high temp is 80°F. Not to mention everything not involving a water hose will be done in the garage, away from the sunlightYou should stop by, I'd love to marvel at the wonder that is your S2000 turbo Civic.

8/12/2009 12:54:47 AM
2 colors, thanks for trying
8/12/2009 9:14:49 AM
what two colors? rust and light pole gray?
10/14/2009 7:35:25 PM
10/14/2009 9:03:02 PM
that would be an outlier.
10/14/2009 9:04:57 PM
I could see my breath in that car in august with the AC only on 75% 'it was phenomenal
10/14/2009 9:09:25 PM
that yellow cloud isn't frost, it's stank
