is it just the bumper? what color is the car?

is it 2005 ("old" body style) or 2005.5 (Jetta V, new body style)?

here's the story of the accident

it was on HW 64 just as you get off 440, near mac gregor......that light is always dangerous since you merge onto traffic traveling east to west on tryon/64

guy in a big chevy pickup just hit my back.....first he said there was not much damage and i was like ...uh my bumper is cracked and dented so i called a cop to get crash report

he said he wants to pay out of pocket and not go through insurance because he has a fleet of commercial vehicles and it'll increase rates for him across the board

does it matter to me how he pays (out of pocket or his insurance company) as long as it's fixed?

ok I've made 3 appointments for estimates at Hendrick Collision, Haddocks, and True2Form all in Cary. Here's the pictures of my rear bumper damage. I'm guesstimating around $1000 for rear bumper part, paint, and labor.

i'd get a quote for the replacement, bring the guy the quote, make him give me a check...deposit the check, make sure it clears...then get them to plastic weld it and pocket the rest

Take that bitch to the dealership. They'll definitely give you a high estimate. I was in a similar situation last year. Broad rear ended my impala in her expedition @ a fairly low speed, but still grashed my bumper pretty deeply. Took it to GM, ~$1000 estimate for bumper + paint blending. Took broad estimate, she coughed up a check. Took it to Reliable for a $150 bumper painting + filling in the gashes.

Don't forget replacement foam and/or bent/shifted bumper brackets in the quote. I can't remember but I saw the topic in another thread; does NC auto insurance compensate for loss of value to the resale value of the vehicle due to the wreck?

both Haddocks and Hendrick quotes almost identical, around $1250.
Haddocks said due to curvature of the bumper, plastic welding will cost about the same

one last place True2Form next week

also i should claim for rental car since i'll be without a car
