probably not unusual, for you folks in NC... but:(1) i live on the west coast. no one's ever heard of TWW here.(2) i used to be able to log in for the past year.(3) all of a sudden it's now blacklisted and blocked with the standard reporting page

brentroad.com ?
7/25/2009 1:08:39 PM
they probably have thousands of lines of logs of messages like that, that no one ever looks at.
7/25/2009 1:11:40 PM
you are so screwed......I mean, getting caught going to sites like this one, at work, on a saturday.......yeah, they're going to put you on double secret probation or somethingand, no one looks at those logs unless there is a performance issue. At work, I've had ad's blocked from legitimate sites (NY Times, etc). [Edited on July 25, 2009 at 1:42 PM. Reason : ]
7/25/2009 1:41:41 PM
well, actually, it started being blocked since last week.i seem to run afoul of the filter off and on, but ive never seen TWW blocked. i cant imagine anyone ELSE causing this site to come up on corporate IT radar.
7/25/2009 1:48:54 PM
Yup, they're watching you.
7/25/2009 1:52:00 PM
Surely this won't stop you
7/25/2009 2:06:05 PM
how big is your IT dept?i'm a little concerned that my workplace is gonna shut me down at some point too. lord knows i register more pageviews here than any other single site in the whole company[Edited on July 25, 2009 at 3:09 PM. Reason : doesn't matter though. i'll just rdp into home and get my fix there ]
7/25/2009 3:08:32 PM
doubt you are introuble. But I wouldnt push it.
7/25/2009 3:12:42 PM
try brentroad.com
7/25/2009 3:24:57 PM
7/25/2009 3:24:58 PM
try firefox portableit's worked wonders for firewall deterrence
7/25/2009 3:39:41 PM
how is firefox portable going to make any difference? it's blocked before it ever gets to his computer.. it doesnt matter what browser he uses.
7/25/2009 4:05:36 PM
my workplace has a block which only appears to work in IE I figure I'd best not ask such questions given my overlords' aversion to the use of any browser than IE
7/25/2009 4:30:24 PM
Yeah, IE has some settings you can mess with to block shit.. that's not a very smart way to do it but def one of the easiest.[Edited on July 25, 2009 at 4:34 PM. Reason : (and not how his work place is doing it )]
7/25/2009 4:34:26 PM
https://btunnel.comproblem solved.
7/25/2009 7:24:52 PM
There's only one thing you can do.Quit.
7/25/2009 9:13:07 PM
I was almost fired over TWW once. And that's not to mention another job where I spent a whole day winning the egg hunt.
7/25/2009 9:18:15 PM
Tee was blocked for me but brentroad worked. Aren't these filters usually outsourced?
7/25/2009 9:24:41 PM
outsourced? wtf does that even mean? no.
7/25/2009 9:28:10 PM
HelloI am thanking you kindly to be you internet filter source. Please do not be hesitating to ask if you have any questions.[/apu]
7/25/2009 9:31:49 PM
As in your IT department doesn't go to every website ever made and decide what you can and cannot have access to. I just assumed there was an outside firm that specialized in web filtering. I guess not.[Edited on July 25, 2009 at 9:33 PM. Reason : ^nice]
7/25/2009 9:32:02 PM
no. you can filter on address, content, keywords, etc.
7/25/2009 9:34:39 PM
Ours definitely blocks any URL with the word game in it. You would think websites would stop putting game in the fucking URL
7/25/2009 9:39:23 PM
A lot of proxies IT departments use do download filtering addresses from any number of central sources, so yes, bobster, it does work that way to a point.I'm not sure that TWW would be on any of those centralized databases, but it could be...
7/25/2009 10:32:19 PM
I wouldn't be surprised that a lot of IT dept's subscribe to standard and large filtersets run by third partieswhere I used to work thewolfweb.com was blocked but brentroad.com wasn't
7/26/2009 12:20:13 AM
it's probably better to not tww at work, anyway
7/26/2009 12:30:11 AM
your boss totally got an automated email
7/26/2009 2:06:20 AM
7/26/2009 9:01:21 AM
If they block brentroad.com next, simply try entering the IP itself: 208.79.80.203. Lots of IT guys forget to block the IP too.
7/27/2009 2:33:58 PM
no, they get the IP. they're not incompetent.
