No outside alcohol, no glass, no drugs, no dogs, no open fires, no fun!
7/20/2009 9:59:37 AM
You people really wouldn't go because of those rules? Damn. They have a beer garden and bar - it's not like they don't allow drinking at all. they'll check your cooler but not your bags so you can bring a bottle of liquor if you feel like it. No glass is a good rule - I don't like shards in my feet.No drugs? Just say no.No dogs? Also a good thing - I don't like to step in shit or get caught in the middle of a dogfight. The fire rule kinda sucks, but it's been dry lately and I can understand the restriction.
7/20/2009 10:11:31 AM
those are standard rules for most festivals.not highly enforced, but rather more to cover their asses
7/20/2009 10:13:22 AM
You know, life is more than prohibitions -- It's pretty sad that some people can't have fun without them.Perhaps they shouldn't be so dependent on them.

willy, for someone who claims to support personal freedoms as much as you do, you sure don't support this company's freedom to allow what they want to allow on their propertymaybe you're a freedom bigot[Edited on July 20, 2009 at 10:30 AM. Reason : thread sucks anyway, might as well get off topic]
7/20/2009 10:30:00 AM
WTF is BOGO?
7/20/2009 10:33:57 AM
the ticket prices for this are just too much for what you get....imoplus, floyd is a lot more fun when it is not overun
7/20/2009 10:34:14 AM
Never heard of any of this trash son.
7/20/2009 10:36:34 AM
^^ Floyd is a lot more fun when it's quiet, but I doubt I'll even make it into town. I usually stay up on the campgrounds. Ever been to the Friday night Jamboree?
7/20/2009 10:39:02 AM
Indeed. Yes, the jamboree can be fun.Went to the New Years Eve bit a couple of years back. Decent music at least.
7/20/2009 10:40:51 AM
I would rather have everyone in this thread take a huge shit right in my mouth than go to this crap

well i came in here to say i wouldn't mind going to this if i had the money and didn't have to work...even if i'm not familiar with much of the music i still would like to go to some festivals like this just for the experience...but then i see how the thread was completely derailed by some bullshit...good job chit chat...you never let us down
7/20/2009 10:57:03 AM
Who de-railed it son?
7/20/2009 10:59:46 AM
me and willy, son
7/20/2009 11:00:37 AM
HOLY FUCKING SHIT ON A STICKIf you're not interested in the festival, get the fuck out of my thread. I don't want this to turn into "Willy Nilly and SaabTurbo's thread for bitching about everything." You two can go make your own thread to ruin if you're going to be annoying. So, back to the original question... post here if you are going or are interested in going.

7/20/2009 11:10:23 AM
JESUS CHRIST SON, STOP GETTING CONFUSED SO EASILY SON. I SAID I AM NOT GOING SON. STOP ASKING ME TO FUCKING GO TO YOUR STUPID ASS FESTIVAL OF ALCOHOLISM.
7/20/2009 11:11:38 AM
I wouldn't mind going, but I gotta save the $$$$ for Vegas at the end of August.Toubab Krewe is always a good showPlus I usually enjoy Donna the Buffalo. Holy Ghost Tent Revival, The New Familiars, The Old Ceremony, Boulder Acoustic Society, The Duhks, & The Mantras are all good live shows as well.Enough good bands to justify a road trip IMO.....just not in the cards for me this year.V This will be my last festival of the year, with the exception of Shakori Hillshttp://www.thegetdown.org/ - First year festival with a solid lineup of regional bands (mostly jam / reggae bands) Should be a good time[Edited on July 20, 2009 at 11:22 AM. Reason : .]
7/20/2009 11:20:08 AM
^ I already have my ticket for that! I'm going to Shakori as well - I love that it is the same weekend as fall break
7/20/2009 11:56:22 AM
also, is it just me or is this way early this year? i thought i remembered a labor day weekend type thing before...

for a supposed hippy, Willy Nilly loves to bitch.my gf wanted to go if Ani Difranco was playing. Floyd's about 30 min. from Roanoke where we are.also, if a band you like is playing, but you refuse to go b/c of the posted alcohol policy, congrats, you're a shitty fan.
7/20/2009 1:21:44 PM
^^^ FloydFest is usually in July, but they have the wine festival in September at the same place.
7/20/2009 1:24:17 PM
hm yeah and i also may be thinking about when it was held as long ago as 6 yrs so my memory might not be that on target

BTTT. Anyone that's still here have any personal experiences with FloydFest? Friends and I are trying to plan our festival circuit for 2015 and really like this year's lineup. But from what i've read this one may be a little too controlled and family friendly than what we would prefer (especially for a 3-4 day event). Can anyone share some stories?
12/3/2014 10:30:29 AM
Sorry Jeepin4x4, I never saw this - I haven't signed in for months... Floyd used to be one of my favorite festivals. It was my first, back in the early 2000s. Over the years it's gotten much more corporate and crowded. I stopped going two years ago because it was such a hassle. Pros:The lineup is always killerGreat vendorsBeautiful viewsReally laid back people (that whole area is awesome. I suggest you visit the town of Floyd, too)Cons:No on-site parking without $$VIP status - you park a few miles down the road and come in on school busesVery little flat/shaded/easy camping. You're probably going to be on a hill with lots of neighbors. You can't bring your own alcohol, and can only drink in designated beer tents. They check your coolers. CROWDED. Like whoa. And expensiveDepending on what you're looking for, I'd check out The Big What in Mebane in June, which I find to be a much more enjoyable experience than Floyd.
