I may be making this harder than it really is, but my laptop backlight is out and in the time being for a temporary solution I am using a LCD monitor hooked up through vga. Ideally, i'd like to be able to close the laptop and take it and my dock that all my peripherals are hooked up to and put it on a side table or something to free up some deskspace for a keyboard.

I looked in my display settings for ways to close the laptop without it going to sleep. Has anyone ever done this and has any advice to give. I'm going to check power options again to see if I missed something.

Any help would be awesome.
