haha, that's just how we used to do it to all the n00bs. i remember pushing joel's buttons like a vending machine for a long time, lol. i mean, what GANG doesn't have initiations anyway, amirite? like the rest of the site, shit has kinda slowed down/mellowed out in recent years.

anyway, i've got another good one that goes back to the same times as the parking deck meets. who all is still around that remembers the random weekday kmart/4wheeling meets? those were always a trip. seems like i remember there being as many as 20-30 vehicles showing up for some of them.

i remember watching Ivan wheel the Po' Runna. It went places that more capable rigs feared to tread, even though it was stock (except a lincoln locker), and had totally bald passenger car tires on it. Whatever it lacked in traction, ground clearance, suspension articulation, power, gearing, approach and departure angles, etc, it made up for with good old fashioned momentum (and sometimes a little altitude).


I remember getting pulled over a couple of times for doing burnouts in the highschool parking lot back when I was like 17 and Joel and I were sporting our pair of classic Cutlasses at Durham Riverside while half of you hadn't even hit puberty.


I remember Keith test-riding my YZF-600 directly into a parked car on my street. Sold!



I remember going with Ivan in his Trooper to Baltimore to pick up my turbo Miata. Got lost in a rather undesireable part of D.C. at night with a bag full of thousands of dollars in cash sitting under my SIG P226...then had Ivan tailgate me the whole way home from MD (at least whenever I was driving at speeds attainable by a Trooper) because I had no license plate whatsoever on the Miata.


I remember that house with like 20 dudes living in it, nearly all of whom were needed to get the SR20DET swap to work properly in jsquared's 240sx.


I remember sawzalling a bunch of shit out from underneath Reid's 4Runner so Ivan could fab up a SAS. Hell, I remember Reid thinking I was a fuckhead frat guy and talking a bunch of shit back and forth before actually meeting and each realizing that we're both really damn cool.

that night we all met up at vincents on capital to look at tony's ugly roll bar thing.

one night we had a dan allen "meet" that ended up bein me, gronke, azaka, and rsxtypes (when he still had an rsx). I drove the mk1 mr2 gronke had just gotten from jdchmiel up and down western. then we ran from the police in azaka's rx7 when it was running like shit. then we carved up some backroads in fuquay and ended up drag racing in front of west lake.

Another cookout "meet" where we tried to reaim mark's headlight and reset gronke's ecu on his new a4.
