Visit http://www.oneseason.comOneSeason lets you buy and sell virtual shares of athletes using real money. It's a new twist on fantasy sports where you can participate whenever you want showing off your sports knowledge and allegiances. There are several oneseason third party games and many more to come which allow you to use the players you own in games to earn prizes and money. See oneseasonpro.com for several of the games. Also, there are several games at oneseasonnation.comVinny's Sportsbook on facebook.com is an app just opened on facebook that allows you to use chips to wager on different games. Other facebook games are coming. This site is in its infancy 9 months old. Jose Reyes was just released for trading. As it approaches football season, more games will be available to participate in and a lot of these games will take into account what percentage of a player you have. A lot of the recent releases have very few shares available for that particular player. This is your chance to own a large stake in some of these players. Other players like Kobe, Lebron, AIRJ, have tons of outstanding shares and their market value is retreating to be more in line with the other players in the market. One of our very own, RVRS, has one of the lowest market caps among football players and has the best fantasy ratio which takes into account the market value of that player and the fantasy stats that he produces. We can use this thread to discuss the best buys and sells. I just joined this site recently and have enjoyed learning about the market and being in there in the beginning stages. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will try to answer. For people who just create an account you will receive $10 free to use in your trading.

that is a really fucking cool ideamy question is: How sensitive is market value to performance per game, per week, per season, etc?[Edited on June 22, 2009 at 4:40 PM. Reason : .]
6/22/2009 4:38:51 PM
So basically if this was in play last year, and I bought Deangelo Williams before the season, after the year I could have sold my shares and made a killing ?Pretty cool I guessThere's already a site that uses a system sort of like this for gambling purposes...you can sell your future stocks for more than what you paidExample...I put 1000 on the Colts to win the Super Bowl at 10-1 odds...they have a great year and they're the number 1 seed...I can sell my bet for 4000, so a guaranteed 3000 dollar profit...or I can keep it and hope to make 10000
6/22/2009 4:42:01 PM
The prices move based on supply and demand. Right now a lot of stocks are undervalued due to the relatively newness of them.Onfield performance does help what people will pay, but it does not directly correspond. The better players do have higher values though, but if Ovechkin records a hat trick he may not go up the next day. With the introduction of these games, the onfield performance will have a lot more to do with how the prices move because people will want the good fantasy players for their fantasy teams and the games that they are playing.
6/22/2009 4:46:49 PM
If you join vote up our NCSU players and Deangelo Williams. The players that are IPO'd are based on who the users of the site want. Andre Johnson will probably pass Brandon Roy for the next IPO. There has been about 1 or 2 IPOs per week since I joined.
6/22/2009 4:48:25 PM
so say i followed the Carolina Hurricanes offseason closely, and knew that we were about to close a long term deal with eric staal. i can go in, put all my money on Staal, he receives $7 year $57M contract the next day, and i profit? even if his stock goes up 1 cent, i can put $100,000 on Staal stock and turn around and make $1K?
6/22/2009 4:52:03 PM
There is a limit to how much you can put in per calendar yr ($2,500). There are only 4 hockey players on the site so far (Malkin, Crosby, Alov, and Great One). As the site grows there will be more, but if you want Staal vote him up. Basically you want to get guys with low available shares that are strong performers for the games.

for some it's not a big deal, for some it isthey require you to put in credit card information at the beginning of registering
6/22/2009 5:04:30 PM
They do not charge your credit card for anything until you click and process that you want to deposit money. Never even realized that dweedle.
6/22/2009 5:05:27 PM
thats Mister Dweedle to you
6/22/2009 5:11:51 PM
All I have is the 10 dollar promo right now to spend but I bought a share of Rivers and also picked up a couple of Darren McFadden (who I expect to have a better fantasy season). I would jump on Fitz at that price as he could end up being the best receiver in the game for a few years to come.wish I had more disposable income to fuck with this right now
6/22/2009 5:24:27 PM
I own some PRIV as well...I think all of the fantasy footballer except p. manning and bledsoe are expensive...I picked up some walter payton, barry sanders, brandon marshall, matt ryan recently....There is such a low supply of priv relatively speaking that If I had 2500 bucks I would buy all his shares and lock them up...
6/22/2009 5:51:35 PM
This is basically a ponzi scheme. You are bidding on worthless shares that will eventually go to zero because they have no intrinisic value. Sure they may go up at points along the way but they will with absolute certainty reach zero in the mid to near term.Have some fun if you like, but don't put any money in that you don't mind losing.
6/22/2009 5:52:04 PM
^thats your opinion.......but it is a legit website...do your homework before you bash something....It's actually pretty fun...I ve made a few bucks trading on it but plan to hold forever on some players.......It would be a ponzi scheme if you couldn't take money out...but I have and know others who have taken dough out......
6/22/2009 5:59:47 PM
actually no...ponzi schemes typically let early users take out money...this increases the "legitimacy" of the scheme. again, you are owning nothing of value when you purchase a share, making this entire site completely stupid.this could be an awesome platform to try out market manipulation techniques thoughanybody want to pitch in $200 a piece for a single "TWW user" in order to manipulate this "market"this way if we lose it all (because they close our account) everyone is only out $200, but we each share in the winnings. I need 11 people for this...pm menevermind, after reading the boards there's a whole lot of stupid at this site (I don't know why that surprised me)[Edited on June 22, 2009 at 10:16 PM. Reason : .][Edited on June 22, 2009 at 10:17 PM. Reason : .]
6/22/2009 10:07:02 PM
Which boards did you read halo? People will always say this is a ponzi scheme. Just don't see how it is. If you had 2500 you could buy up some of these low value players like reyes that just came out. Guys like Ryan, Rodgers, Rivers in football. Utley Hammels and Grienke are pretty good deals in my opinion.
6/22/2009 10:47:12 PM
Wasn't everything legit about Centsports when it started? Like they let people cash out whatever they had won, but you can only get a tenth of it now or something...
6/22/2009 10:48:53 PM
Everyone has been able to cash out the money they wanted to cash out in this that I have heard from. One of my friends cashed out $100 the other day and received the check no problems.
6/22/2009 10:51:22 PM
i'm not doubting the fact that they aren't disbursing money. they have no reason not to, they're generating income from both storing your cash in a bank account and from the fees they charge to trade. the problem is there is zero accountability in this operation so what happens when the owners decide that 1.5% in a savings account isn't good enough for storing your cash, they want to hit up the real stock market and lose it all. they escape to the caribbean and you're left with nothing.now the other issue is with the "market" concept in general, it looks like a bunch of low priced "shares" with small volumes of trades. the "market" is wide open for manipulation from a few people with a bunch of cash in the system.i have no problem with the site or idea, just don't use money that you want to see again. hell I may even throw some cash in there to try some ideas out.
6/22/2009 11:00:32 PM
Low volume is a big problem with sites like these. easily manipulable, and if people get bored of or stop using the site, the value of the "assets" goes to zero because there is no one around to buy the assets that you are trying to sell. That's why it is a "ponzi scheme" in a fashion -- the user base has to be continually growing in order for the stocks to hold their value.
6/22/2009 11:10:20 PM
skokkian hit the nail on the head.since you aren't holding anything of value, the only way demand goes up is to have new users enter the market that will purchase the existing shares at higher prices. now the "third party games" does change the dynamic a bit because in theory the holdings you have start to actually have value but again, this is "for entertainment only"
6/22/2009 11:14:56 PM
maybe i'm missing something, but lets say you bought pujols as a rookie for cheap and now his stock is worth a ton. why would anyone want to buy him when there's little to no room for improvement?
6/22/2009 11:28:33 PM
I didn't see the third party games section, but if its like an options contract, then that is something that is worth money.Basically, if any user is allowed to sell a contract for any proposition, then that is an asset that has value because the person selling the contract is obligated to pay out whatever the terms are.Example: I sell options where I will pay you $10/share if Pujols hits >70 HRs this year, and I sell them for $0.50 a piece. That is something that has actual value that won't go to zero because people lose interest (If he hits >70, my account gets deducted and contract-holders get paid. If he hits <= 70, contract-holders' accounts are deducted $0.50 a pop).[Edited on June 22, 2009 at 11:44 PM. Reason : clarification]
6/22/2009 11:42:16 PM
lol PR shares are $8.38 and brady is $2.20...AP $2.32gg TWW, you already broke their system [Edited on June 23, 2009 at 2:54 AM. Reason : 3 hockey players? ]
6/23/2009 2:53:31 AM
yes rvrs shares are at 8 dollars and brady's are at 2.20rvrs is at 6900 mkt cap with 825 shares and brady is at 21k market cap with 9571 shares outstanding. In regards to the market manipulation, you may be able to own a lot of a player with your cash but only being able to put in a max of $2,500 I believe this stops you from manipulating it completely. Now if you could put it as much as you wanted then for sure you could manipulate it. Yes you can overpay for a price of a player and change the value of him but it will reset to what it should be unless the whole market thinks the player should be valued higher. With the 3rd party games coming out it does give you a reason to own players and use them in these fantasy games. I thought it was a fun site and is for entertainment for me right now. I put in a couple hundred dollars and have enjoyed messing around with it. If the site grows and more fantasy games come out I only see the site growing and growing.
6/23/2009 7:46:09 AM
This is a perfect example of the greater fool theory. These shares have no earnings, pay no dividends, and have no intrinsic value. I did do research and it took me ten minutes to realize this was a terrible "investment". The only people making money are people who pump and dump on the ipo and peope who got in when the website first launched. This is equivalent to trading shares of gm sure you might make money on the volatility but ultimately the shares are going to zero so the risk outweighs potential reward. Haven't you guys ever seen the movie boiler room? The premise is exactly the same as this website. If you look at the message board lebron went down 30 percent after he won the mvp.Another shady aspect is that they have put up ghost bids to create a pretend market so people don't notice how illiquid and worthless the shares are
6/23/2009 8:18:27 AM
Sabathia, LT, and Mamba took huge overnight lossesI think I might get a piece of LT at that price
6/23/2009 8:25:40 AM
there are no ghost orders. those have been eliminated. we'll see what is going on in the market in a year and see if you are right rally. the reason lebron has come down is he was trading at 100k compared to all of the other players at 20k or less. He is good but not that good. That is why he has decreased.
6/23/2009 8:56:00 AM
I just cant wrap my head around how this could possibly be a good ideait could be fun if it was fake money, or if everyone pitched in the same amount of money and had the same number of shares to spread around. But it sounds like a waste of money to "own" part of a player
6/23/2009 9:04:39 AM
how is rallydurham the only person in this thread questioning this? why in the world would anyone pay real money to own a totally fake stock in an athlete?or are all of you just pulling this guy's leg?
6/23/2009 9:18:44 AM
What the hell is Babe Ruth on there for? What is going to change his value... real estate prices in the area where he is buried?
6/23/2009 9:28:30 AM
I have traded in this for months now......No problems at all.....Lots of cynics of course.......Oneseasonpro has some third party games.....I think Oneseason is trying to link up with otherwebsites to recruit new users....there isn't really anything different than the beginning of the stock market..... you just figure that fantasy sports like football, baseball, and nba are huge growth drivers and that over time their is some value that could be generated from owning stakes in the players that are traded...I think if one buys a portfolio of legends and current players that could be great you might make some nice dough over time....But the market dynamics are the same as the stock market where supply and demand of stock based on company/player performance and number of overall sharesFull disclosure I own some stocks and love the game...Figure some fellow wolfpackers might like this as well...Any others who doubt this check the sight...ask more questions....
6/23/2009 9:39:17 AM
6/23/2009 10:09:46 AM
Yeah of course.......that's why the website and their owners market this such knowing that confidence and trust in the site must not be sacrificed.....That is why they are very customer friendly......they know thousands of people like yourself ask the same question.....this isn't a new site....http://www.oneseason.com/page/faq/
6/23/2009 10:15:38 AM
you have got to be fucking w/ me.
6/23/2009 10:18:36 AM
Jose Reyes seems pretty dam cheap at these levels...considering his peers and his overall fantasy production...he just ipo'd...i guess no one wants him now that he is injured....
6/23/2009 10:26:27 AM
Rally is 1000% correct about everything he's posted in this thread. Anyone dumping money into this is a tard.
6/23/2009 10:26:36 AM
I am selling shares of Sean May guys2 mcnuggets a piece, with the promise of a minimum 5 mcnugget return
6/23/2009 10:27:57 AM
If by buying that piece of paper, i could use it in fantasy games to compete for over $500 a week in cash, and also have the ability to potentially sell that piece of paper later for more than I bought it.. Then yes, i would buy your piece of paper with rivers' name on it....
6/23/2009 10:28:57 AM
Start talking about sauce options and I'm listening.
6/23/2009 10:29:13 AM
you get bbq by defaultwhen you get your 5 mcnugget return, you have the option of trading one of those in for an upgrade to sweet & sour or honeyhoney mustard can be had for a 2 mcnugget trade-in
6/23/2009 10:31:26 AM
6/23/2009 10:33:51 AM
Lemme option that BBQ
6/23/2009 10:34:16 AM
Look, i wasn't trying to promote the site, just let a bunch of people interested in sports know about a new fantasy game. I didnt realize I'd be met with such backlash over it. If you guys dont think using any of your own money to take a chance with a new fantasy concept, then that's fine. I just wanted to share this with you, because not many people know about it right now. That's all. Good luck trading, if you choose to do so.
6/23/2009 10:35:14 AM
you sure you don't want that sweet & sour?shit is a sound investment, manin all the years of Sean May mcnugget trading, I've seen the YOY growth of sweet & sour average out between 8-9%
6/23/2009 10:36:32 AM
A steady 8-9% increase YOY? Must be cooking the books. Tell Lau the deal is off.
6/23/2009 10:45:15 AM
Look man, my grandpa lost his fucking shirt over sweet & sour. Get that YOY shit outta here, you Aunt Mille. Shit's straight head and shoulders, son.
6/23/2009 10:48:30 AM
I am willing to put some $ in this because I have done the homework and see that it is legit...The greater fool scenario you speak of has to do with anything not tangible...you sell and buy and what has value to you might not to others......as long as there is a market for which it traded which is liquid It's worth a look......they try and mirror the stock market, in terms of execution and stability.....I don't want to fight with fellow wolfpackers about whether this is legit or not...make up your mind for yourself....post it if you want, but those who use and it and know its fun and works won't waste their time with the naysayers.......It is what it is....I
6/23/2009 10:50:20 AM
lemme finish that thought for you....am a sucker
