Free Agency, Trades, Rumors, etc...

Lets start with the two Finals teams...Can the Magic afford to keep Turk, and to a less extent, Gortat ?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&page=Hedofreeagency-090613

How bout L.A. with Ariza and Odom ?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=odomariza-090613

Who will make "The Leap" next year to star status ?

Which veterans will begin their inevitable decline ?

And will the Bobcats play like they did the 2nd half of this year for the whole season next year ?

The answer to these questions, and more, will be discussed herein over the next several months

What do yall think about Shaq to Cavs? And the possibility that if he does not go to the Cavs, Lebron leaves and goes to the Knicks?

I think Shaq makes them finals contenders, not exactly locks for the championship but definitely more capable of dealing with Boston and Orlando.

They need another perimeter player. They need length at the 2 guard position.

BUT Shaq only has 1 maybe 2 years where he could contribute to a team. I dont think Lebron is wanting to win 1 title, he is wanting to be somewhere where he can win 4 or 5 titles

"Reporter tells The Fan his source on Jackson, Krzyzewski is reliable

On Wednesday, a blurb appeared in the Racine Journal Times in Gery Woelfel's column. His source says Phil Jackson will step down as the Los Angeles Lakers head coach and Mike Krzyzewski will be the sought after replacement.

The note also hinted that Lakers star Kobe Bryant would want to see Krzyzewski get the job.

Woelful said Wednesday that his source is a very accurate one who usually hits home runs on all his calls.

"I had talked to a gentleman who I respected for many years and he's provided me with good stuff," Woelful told 99.9FM The Fan ESPN Radio. "This guy has some legitimacy. .... Bottom line is he firmly believes that Mike Krzyzewski would be the heir apparent to Phil Jackson."

Bryant further developed his relationship with Krzyzewski while playing for Team USA this summer, where the Americans won the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.

"Absolutely, they have a very good rapport, a mutual respect, I think both individuals appreciate what the other has accomplished, " Woelful said. "According to this source he says Kobe will definitely go to bat (for Krzyzewski), and let's face it if Kobe wants you to be the head coach you're going to be the head coach."

Lakers coach Phil Jackson has yet to make any such announcement that he is leaving the team and Woelful did say a decision probably won't come quickly. But general manager Mitch Kupchak would prefer it not to drag on.

Krzyzewski has said he plans to remain with the U.S. Olympic team, but Duke athletics director Kevin White and president Richard Brodhead have refused to speculate on his future."

I remember their first flirtation back in the summer of 2004

Something tells me this time it will be different

If LA is serious, I think maybe K makes the leap

I think this is a farce. K is a GOD at DUKE and he is easily the most powerful college basketball coach in the country.

I think there is a reason Kurt Rambis didnt take several jobs that were offered to him.

My prediction: Phil stays with the Lakers as long as they can win championships. No reason to leave when you have an opportunity to 3 peat for the 4th time!

I will say this K will be sought after when Phil leaves, but my guess is Rambis will be the replacement

I think Shaq to the Cavs has to happen it just makes too much sense for both teams. The Cavs give up nothing and the Suns save $10 million... for Shaq it gives him a chance to defeat Kobe and cement his legacy.

Shaq is abysmal at guarding slashers now but he can still hold his own against big men (although foul trouble plagues him since he's so slow). This would give the Cavs another body to throw at Howard (or Garnett if he is able to come back) and also some more help against Gasol/Bynum.

This trade should be mandated by the league for god's sake the implications are dynamite.

the difference this time is K isn't coming off a final 4 appearance, and dook has been sliding ever since, so he may want to spend his last few years coaching the likes of kobe and gasol. kobe obviously loves him, so it's not that far fetched

Bobcats won't tender offer to May
snippet:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After four years of seemingly never-ending knee and weight issues, Sean May faces an uncertain summer as an unrestricted free agent after the Charlotte Bobcats decided not to make a qualifying offer to their former first-round pick.

Plagued first by chronic knee pain that led to microfracture surgery, May struggled to get into proper playing shape last season for coach Larry Brown, who refused to play the 6-foot-9 power forward for long stretches until he lost weight.

Appearing in only 82 of a possible 328 games since being the 13th pick in the 2005 draft, the Bobcats declined to give May a one-year, $3.7 million offer that would have made him a restricted free agent.

It's obvious he wasn't going to fit here with LB at the helm and 3.7 million is too much to pay for a guy who may not even be able to suit up. He was pretty good when he played and we could really use his shooting and rebounding but letting him go at that price was a no brainer. I wouldn't be surprised to see him come back and play well somewhere just to really bone us over.

I think we're going to take Terrence Williams which sounds great to me. 8.5 reb, 5.0 ast, 2.3 stls in college from the SG position sounds like someone who could really help us out.

With Terrence Williams and Diaw on the floor, the PG position because more of a spot up shooter in half court sets, which plays to DJs strengths more than Felton's

I like the deal for the Spurs. Bowen will probably get bought out and return to San Antonio.

Per ESPN the Wizards are close to a deal that pretty much sends the #5 pick and Etan Thomas to the Timberwolves for Randy Foye and Mike Miller. Not really sure where Foye fits in with the Wizards unless they're looking to move Arenas or Butler.

Wonder who the TWolves are looking at with 5th and 6th pick

so, what on earth are the TWolves going to do with 4 picks in the first round?

do they move the 5th and one of their later picks to ensure they get Rubio?

tons of options for them now.

yeah I can't see them sticking with 4 first round draft picks in what most people consider a pretty weak draft overall. It would make sense for them to move the 5th and one of the lower ones for the 2nd pick and take Thabeet then take the best PG in the draft with the 6th. Maybe a scoring PG/SG like Evans

Forgot about Kevin Love, so maybe they move up for Rubio and then pick Evans or Curry

^^ agreed I think the twolves will end up with Thabeet and Curry

that would make this a pretty good draft for them

starting twolves would be something like this:

pg- Curry
sg- Brewer
sf- Gomes
pf- Jefferson
C- Thabeet

Kevin Love, Rodney Carney and Telfair off the bench

very young team probably wont win much but jefferson/thabeet inside with curry outside could be interesting

I just ran that trade with just Lebron for Wallace and Radmanovic and the Bobcats went up +19 wins

So apparently trading Okafor and Diop for Amare is worth -3 wins
