We've got 3 HDTV's in our house, one Sony, one Olevia, and one Samsung, all which have digital tuners, but none of them are getting DTV over the air with rabbit ears. We were able to pick up digital channels OTA as of yesterday night, so I'm not sure what's going on. Do I need a stronger antenna or something?[Edited on June 12, 2009 at 10:25 PM. Reason : ]

I was under the impression with the switchover the signals will reach farther, is this true or did I make that up in my head?
6/12/2009 10:34:13 PM
That was my understanding as well

are you 80, senile, and haven't lived in the U.S. during the past year?
6/12/2009 11:05:31 PM
sure they'll reach farther but only under good conditions, the signal degrades quickly under less than good conditions (terrain, and atmosphere) and once you drop below minimum required level you lose everything

ABC 11 is not showing up for me, but all of the other Garner Tower channels are. PBS has always been problematic since the tower is in Chapel Hill.

I am running an OTA through my direcTV box and it seems like everything is working fine except for PBS. Prior to yesterday we got a pretty decent signal on the PBS channels, now we get nothing at all on any of the PBS channels. Kinda sucks.

My dad lives out in the boonies, and he used to get UNC-TV, but since the transition, he's been getting a horrible signal. I did a rescan and everything for him while I was there this weekend. Signal is worse than it was before the transition. I dunno, DTV isn't really living up to it's hype.

i rescanned 3 times, and still get all my channels except 11.1 11.2 and 11.3. not sure whats going on, according to antenna web the antenna is the same directions as 5, 17, 22, 28 and 50 but the signal meter on my tv is showing 0% only for 11. Every other channel is perfect. any ideas?

Mass conspiracy to deprive you of American Idol.
6/16/2009 2:07:03 PM
11.x is ABC; which is the same channel I'm having issues with.I can get it, the antenna just has to be floating in mid-air halfway behind the TV.[Edited on June 16, 2009 at 2:12 PM. Reason : also, Idol is on Fox]
6/16/2009 2:12:05 PM
i would suggest calling abc 11. and no i'm not being a smartass. they may have just fucked something up and don't know it.

I can't get CBS in Wilmington. Wilmington was the first city in the country to do the transition in September. It worked just fine up until a few weeks ago. I've done everything I can with my antenna and even made a reflector out of aluminum foil to improve reception.I have 100% signal on all channels, except CBS which won't acquire.
6/17/2009 10:26:50 PM
did you re-scan?
6/17/2009 10:58:18 PM
i lost pretty much all of my channels at the switch...a re-scan fixed iti think i'm getting them better than i was before, but that might not be true

Any idea why I can't get any sound on WRAL's HD channel?? I'm using the stream that comes over TWC's cable lines. All other HD channels are fine except WRAL
6/18/2009 8:45:31 AM
Looks like we are not the only ones not getting ABC and UNCTV:http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/1573582.html

I don't know who Suddenlink (eastern NC's) ABC affiliate is offhand, but during the finals, my buddy couldn't get it either.
6/18/2009 2:16:48 PM
^^^^^ yes I did, however, CBS has not changed frequency since September.
