Should I get a WinMo 6.1 phone with the intention of upgrading it later?I'm confused, engaget said this:"Sadly, Microsoft's saying that no devices in the market today will receive official 6.5 updates"[Edited on June 4, 2009 at 11:58 AM. Reason : the phones i'm looking at all say that they will be 6.5 ready.]

Grandmaster is running it and keeps telling me to give it a shot - i've been a slacker so far though my little bro had it on his htc diamond about 6 weeks ago when he came to visit and it was polished enough to use but not 100% reliable theni'd recommend trying it - even if you don't like it you can always change the rom out pretty easily ]]

I'm using this guy's rom (6.5 v2.2 heavy) on my Titan and so far it's satisfying. I haven't messed around with it enough to break many things yet though. I was fully expecting it to run like trash with 64MB, but it's built with high memory mode (nuekernel) and I have about 25 free on boot and 18 throughout the day. The honeycomb menu is fluid and does not lag.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496982

I'm weighing getting a winmo phone just to run the beta. i really don't care for 6.1.

Is there a good free app out there for Windows Mobile 6 that will enables threaded text messaging?

yes. it might even be a registry tweak. it's enabled by default on every rom that i've cooked or loaded.
