I am auditing around 15 computers on the same network.

No one really knows what anyone has. So i'm going around and making a little spread sheet for certain information but also saving all the auditing reports as well.

I would like to just record OS (service packs), Memory information, and processor speed/type for the spreadsheet. Also would like to archive the full out audit report just in case something comes up that I need.

there is no need to buy anything. WMI is all you need. if you really want to get slick, make a local policy for a shutdown script and put in a script that queries what you want to know from WMIC, outputs to a text/html/xml/csv file and then copies the file to a network share so you can do diffs/timelining.

for instance

mkdir c:\Inventory
cd c:\Inventory
del *.html
wmic /Append:c:\Inventory\%machinename%-Patches.html qfe get description /translate:nocomma /Format:htable.xsl
xcopy *.html \\centralshare\patchlogs

you shouldn't need more than a guest account to run that. there are tons more wmic calls
