I've got a little font problem and am hoping one of you guys can steer me in the right direction

I'm on an XP machine with all the latest service packs...Internet Explorer shows webpages just fine, but in Firefox and Chrome, some font(s?) are replaced with a crazy looking font I have installed somewhere on my computer...for example, all the text at http://www.profootballtalk.com is in this funky font, and the headline/title text on charlotte.com is also the funky font.

(IE correct; Chrome incorrect)

Is there some type of setting in Windows where I can set default fonts? I know browsers have the ability to show fonts that you prefer but I'd rather let the websites decide and use the fonts they dictate.

I'm not sure if its a system issue since webpages show up fine in IE, but any assistance would be appreciated.

Also, and this may or may not be related, I was trying to change some text in a PDF file in Illustrator earlier...it had some headings in Times New Roman Bold and most of the text in regular Times New Roman. The TNR Bold looked fine, but the regular TNR didn't show up right. But if I try to use say, MS Word and make something TNR regular, it works fine.

Help?

maybe your times new roman was overwritten with that god-awful font and it's set as the default font for firefox/chrome? have you tried changing your default font on firefox?

got it figured out...the fucked up looking font was saved as the Georgia font on my system (saved as GEORGIA_.TTF); thats the font that was supposed to display on profootballtalk.com, etc. I just changed the registry entry for that font to the correct Georgia.ttf font and rebooted and deleted the bad file...then I cleaned up some other fonts and that resolved the Times New Roman issue I was having in Illustrator
