not 09-10 news.....but just got a verbal from Kyle Caudill, 4-star center out of California. 6'10" 260. That makes two 4-stars for the 2011 class and both could be 5-star guys by next year.

2010 class is still shaky, but whatever.

CJ Leslie

flew to Tempe, on his own dime, to chat with Herbie. ASU is on a very, very short list of schools on Leslie's radar

this was already discussed in the basketball recruiting thread, the funny thing is that you know State would have had ZERO chance to land him if Herb was still our coach.

hate to side with a UNC guy but I think he's right on this one.. don't think Clifton is really that close to Leslie. it's definitely not like the John Wall situation

^ Yep. First of all, Dwon isn't even the Clifton who handled Wall's recruitment. That was Brian. Dwon is the brother who got the gig at Baylor. Secondly, Brian Clifton's connection to Wall was through AAU ball, not Word of God. Wall played on Clifton's AAU team D-One Sports. Leslie plays AAU ball for the Carolina Cobras and has nothing more than a casual relationship with Clifton via Wall.

Clifton is pimping Deuce Bello from High Point this year. He's also a D-One kid.

btw there are some stupid ASU posters out there... some claiming that Herb got him to commit then he decomitted when Lowe came in, and saying he went to middle creek...

^^To think that both Cliftons will not at least try to be involved is stupid.

if I had to guess, I would say Leslie goes to UNC. just based off some of his comments in Scout interviews, he's obviously pretty interested in them... which I thought was weird at first, because I've heard over and over again that he has a pretty big attitude problem on the court (doesn't seem like a guy Roy would recruit)

^ You're right. I didn't think he'd played with D-One for awhile but apparently he suited up for two games during the Boo Williams Invitational back in April.

I haven't followed Leslie much because he committed so early on, but I thought that him playing with D-One was just a rumor that was circulated to try and explain why he decommitted.

I'm probably wrong though, but I remember speculation that he was going to play on that AAU squad only in some tourney

I used to follow recruiting hard for several years and got paid for it a couple of years. I just can't keep up with it anymore, it's too crazy.

I don't really care about the "recruit X is leaning towards UNC" nonsense, but I keep track of the prospects we offer and I like to get the email when someone commits and look at their profile...it's kind of a waste of time but then again I have PLENTY of time to waste at work.

Good to see Jeff got out of Sacramento and on to a quality organization. Harden will be the best player of this class.

HAH, hopefully he'll decide UofA is the place for him...hey ncstatetke I assume you're aware of the monster first class Sean Miller pulled in over at UofA right? Pretty fucking impressive considering he's only been there since April, no? Maybe the streak of tourney appearances will continue after all.

Actually, it pains me more to see people still having the Herb argument.

He was a good coach who wasn't as good as Roy Williams. People act like this is a problem. People need to get the fuck over it.

The easiest way to do that? Stop talking about it. These threads don't help.

Pendergraph update**********

The stud big man just had hip surgery yesterday, but the Blazers love him so much, they signed him the day before his surgery. They know he'll be a great role player in the future, so they took the gamble.

His status for the upcoming season is unknown, but he hopes to make a full recovery and get some PT this year

He'll be out of the league in two years. No Herb players last. Positionless offensive players and daytight compartments don't work in the Association.
