i don't understand the loaded comment. we live within our means. my income is 50% of what it was last year at this time. i am far from loaded. my wife and i chose where to spend money. probably the biggest dollar saver for us is neither one of us drink any more. the 200 bar tabs that you don't pay add up quickly. with that in mind if we don't go booze 3 nights a month it saves a car payment.

It's a 2006.

Lookout Mountain, CO, 20 miles west of Denver, in pic #7 you can see Coors Brewery (Golden, CO) down in the valley.

Yes, the sun is supposed to be behind the camera, except when you want the sunset in the picture

^^if you buy an Audi, most certainly don't buy new. I got my 2006 here for 55% less than it was 2 years ago new, especially in Colorado where Audi values drop like a rock, a 2-year old A4 with low miles is $18k, I got mine for $14,5.

Having a girl not quite 21 has been my biggest cost reduction ever; no $80 tabs, $20 taxies, etc lol

damn.....

why would they drop more quickly in colorado??

Good deal though. I paid $29,995 for my 07 S-line quattro A4 with 29500 miles.
Like the body kit. I haven't done anything to mine yet. Probably get tint soon. Next will probably
be my ECU reflashed to get full performance from my turbo.

^because everybody has them.

not everyone here wants SUV's to get their AWD, so the options are limited, nearly 9 out of 10 Audi's sold in Denver are Quattro.

seriously if you buy an Audi new in Colorado, chances are you lost $8,000-$10,000 driving it off the lot.

APR chip is next, along with tint, and RS4 rear sway.

i have the DTM/S4 25th Ann. carbon fiber rear lip, but i have to sand it to fit the non S-line body

it's called the Avant, not wagon, that's reserved for VW

i cannot stand, i mean really really hate wagons.... but if i had to own one, it'd be the Audi A4/S4/S6/RS6 Avant

Prospero, you ever driven that thing on Golden Gate Canyon Road off of 93? Goes from 6000 to 9500 feet in 13 miles... Not far from there at all.

while you can squek out 5-10 more hp with GIAC/Unisonic/Revo, none are as smooth as APR's tune, plus the convenience of switching modes via cruise control.

how ofted do you really think you're going to wake up and want to be not-chipped? have you driven a uni, revo, giac, and apr car back to back or are you basing this on someone else's judgement?

Get the APR test flash, so you know how dissapointed you will be.

Then get unitronic.

@ScHpEnXeL, it's called the S-series and the RS-series (S4/RS4/S5/RS5), look into it.

@beethead, it's because 50% of the driving is daily driving when my wife takes it to work and i don't want to always be putting added stress on the car it doesn't need, etc... yes i have driven an APR tuned car, not back to back with another tuner, but there's enough other people that have that will testify to APR's being the best for the B7, while other tuners are best for other models, just go to any forum and you'll see the same thing.

@MaximaDrvr, i don't understand how it could be disappointing.... i mean instantly gaining 40+hp and 60+torque from a simple flash... how is that disappointing again? it's nearly identical to unitronic.

When my APR test flash ended, I didn't even notice.
They are the smallest increase of any aftermarket software, which may be fine for some. They do put the 'least stress' on your car i guess, but it isn't ever going to wear out your car. In reality, you are never going to change it once it is on the car and activated. If you don't want it, then just don't push down the gas pedal as fast or as far.

From what i have read:
Revo, great power, can adjust with the SPS controller, can be a little jerky on hard shifts
GIAX, great power
Unitronic, Great power, reliable, smooth

I went unitronic and could not be happier. I also gained 4mpg on average with the software.

2.0T FSI? I mean there's different results for different engines, I've heard good things about REVO/GIAC/Unitronic for the 1.8T for sure, but different for the 2.0

i've never had a customer with a 2.0t (or any other engine for that matter) that was not satisified with unitronic*. you wont see "added stress" (aka, more power) unless you actually push the car. at part throttle you are not going to hurt anything. all of the big companies are still operating within a safe limit, and you wont be making enough power to mess up your engine on the stock turbo.

truthfully, there wont be too much of a difference**, and you should probably go with whatever software company that has a dealer local to you that you trust. i wouldnt trust what someone says on an internet forum about one being better than another because there are too many fanboys and dumb people on the internet that are going to try to push whatever they have as the best. a lot of people use/suggest apr because they have been around longer and do more marketing, but its not like you will blow up your car if you get unitronic***.

* one person was not happy, but he had quattro a4 and an automatic. that means a lot of drivetrain loss and he didnt feel that the power gain was worth the cost.

** as a unitronic dealer i feel obligated to push their product. however, i am trying to give you some realistic advice and i think the ability of your shop-of-choice to diagnose and deal with problems that could potentially be a software issue is more important than a brand name.

*** ok, i know one person that did, but he had a big turbo (and we put Uni big turbo software on) and we told him not to boost above a certain amount (8psi, i think) until he got the bottom end (rods) built. he didnt listen and we were right. i actually still have his old piston where the wrist pin was ripped out of the bottom of it and the big end of the rod is still on his old crank sitting on a shelf. he also put 2 holes in his block (one front, one back) and a hole in his oil pan

grandmaster: what is the problem? shoot me a pm if you'd like. i cant say how much it will be until i look at it.

^thanks for that.

just to add, i'm not talking just internet forums, i live in Denver where there are a lot of Audi shops, 3 of them offer APR, there's only one Unitronic dealer nearby.... but i'm willing to go with what's best. i also have a co-worker with (2) 2.7 bi-turbo S4 avants and another 2-3 A6 owners, one of which has a son that races Audi's... my friend has a 1.8T golf and went APR. needless to say i'm surrounded by people who tune their Audi's & VW's... i trust their advice and experience.

i probably will at least test APR & Unitronic before i chip.... it's free and it's worth knowing exactly how they differ.

i just know i'm not going GIAC or REVO, too many rough throttle complaints... there' actually not a lot out there on Unitronic except for those with BT upgrades
