The gelding versus the filly. Borrel switches horses. Rachel Alexandra who didn't run the Derby as a favorite. Should be interesting[Edited on May 16, 2009 at 3:49 PM. Reason : ]

i'd take the field over mine that bird, the filly, and musket manI see another darkhorse winning this race with the filly second

^if Mike Smith could have gotten that horse onto the rail I think it would have caught Rachel Alexandra. He just had to weave too many times in and out of traffic. The filly is a great horse though. Did anyone else hear the thing about how the guy that bought this horse also owns Curlin, the '07 and '08 horse of the year, and plans to breed the two horses to try and make what he called a "super horse". It will be interesting to see what happens with that a few years down the line.

that was a great raceI hope these two hook up one more time in the BelmontToo bad he is a gelding or they could hook up in other ways

^the Belmont would be a good race but I would give Mine that Bird the edge in a 1.5 mile race. His style of race(hang back and charge at the end) works better than a lead all the way type in that race - unless the horse leading is that dominant. A horse that is charging can just run in the back longer for a longer distance and then kick at the end where the horses up front expend a little more energy all the way around.

Seems to me there's never enough credit given to the jockey.A guy switches horses from one race to another, and just happens to win both of them?
