http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1158440046.htmlit's a 94 Rx-7. the body and interior are in good shape, but I saw this thing down at Phantasm a couple weeks ago and looked under the hood. It's on the original engine at 80k or so, which means it will blow at any time. The vacuum routing was done incorrectly from what I could see. I talked to the guys at Phantasm who dyno'd it and it has boost issues with the sequential turbo setup, plus it overheated on the dyno which doesn't help. They warned the owner about the situation and he's probably decided to get out while he still can.Even though it runs and may appear to be healthy on the surface, you are pretty much paying $12k for a rolling chassis and some hopefully reusable engine internals. So if anybody knows someone who sees that ad and wants to buy it, don't pay that kind of money for it.

thanks for the heads up, I've been in some intense conversations with adam8778 about this thing

well I guess Phantasm was misinformed about whether it was the original motor or not, and I haven't done a compression test so who knows. I was over there a couple weeks ago dynoing an FD on stock sequential twins, and Hung was telling me how my friend's car was making way more power under 4000rpm than the Red FD in question, which is usually indicative of a sequential system problem. When I looked under the hood I noticed that the charge relief valve (vents secondary turbo compressed air during prespool) was vented to atmosphere instead of recirculated. That is not a common way to route it and offers no performance advantages, and makes me question whoever did the vac job. It seems like they were just too lazy to tap a return fitting on one of the intakes. I've never seen those intakes before, but most proper aftermarket ones have recirculation ports.A Koyo radiator in the slanted stock location with a front mount intercooler is barely adequate for cooling, which explains the overheat on the dyno. The interior and exterior were as good as they look in the pictures though. It seems like it would be ideal for an LS1 swap if they weren't asking so much for it.

^^just shitting up the thread

if you know cheeto, thats routing is his work. ever since Danny left that place is going to the shitter fast than it was. if it wasnt for mexican ricers with cash money I dont see how that place gets by. im sorry if your friends work up there and you're cool with them, but if you dont have a power adder they could care less to talk to you, even for dyno time. this has bee nthe case for me as well as some friends.

I don't think Cheeto did anything to it in terms of vacuum routing, not from what Hung told me. Whoever vented the charge relief to atmosphere was whoever installed those intakes, and that certainly was not Phantasm. They just did the plugs and some other basic shit like the PITA fuel filter. I doubt the intake manifold even came off, and you can't do jack shit on that car without pulling off the manifold. And I thought I saw Danny a few weeks ago??? Jason doesn't work there anymore. I go to phantasm when it is convenient for me, but I'm hardly a hardcore fan of theirs. They give me good deals on dyno time because I've been going there a while. Sometimes they have good prices for me, and sometimes I am disgusted by their work. In this case though I don't think they deserve the blame for the Rx-7 in question.

that "intake" is made of the ebay hardpipes with k & n filters. it is also full of fail. the interior/exterior looks to be in good shape though.

yea its a rare interior/exterior combo/color. thats all I remember about it.
