Tired of my old PowerBook G4, time for an upgrade.
Getting a new unibody Macbook Pro!

No I don't care if you think macs suck.

I can't decide which processor. Having some trouble finding concise to the point comparisons on the two through google. Is it worth the extra cash($300) for the faster processor?

2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

macs suck and unless you're going to be doing a ton of video encoding, theres nothing you can do on that mac that will take advantage of a few extra clock cycles.

Unless of course you install windows, in which case theres no reason to get a mac in the first place.

I have a 17" unibody with the 2.66GHz. I do a lot of development and design work on it and its more than enough. I also run two VM's (Win XP and Vista) at the same time for testing purposes and I've had no problems at all. But I also have 4gb of RAM so thats something I would definitely spend the money on or save yourself a few bucks and order the memory from newegg and install yourself.

Obvious Question: What are you going to be doing with your laptop? Are you going to be doing a lot of processor intensive things that will really benefit from the extra 333 MHz?

2.66ghz for sho. although maybe the 2.93 would have better resale value some day.

I like to think i work my 2.5ghz pretty well. I always have an XP VMware session running and i do a lot of Lightroom, Photoshop, Word, a bit of Final Cut, and of course tons of firefox tabs open. thats with 4gigs of ram.

This thing multitasks like a champ.

yeah, go with the 2.66, you won't notice the difference in performance and honestly it doesn't justify the price increase.

$11/MHz is pretty damn expensive.
