anyone take classes at Kaplan for the GMAT. Did this help more than just doing a review book at home or is it a waste of money?

It's a matter of whether you want somebody to teach to you, or, whether you can pursue independent self-study. Both will likely achieve the same end results. The former you pay somebody to save you some time doing the upfront research and providing the materials.

I'll also comment, your letters of recommendation are as important (if not more so) than your GMAT score. Make sure you have those available or can acquire before moving ahead too far.

And good luck!
