The NFL Draft is over and it's time to start focusing on the season. Rookie camp is coming up soon and I am going to try to be in Albany to check out our young guys.If I can get up there I will create some sort of report on what I see. I am pumped about the chance to go up there this year.I hope we can still work out a trade for Boldin...he is a gamer and a terrific WR. His downfield blocking will crate havoc if matched up with our running game. He's not going to get $10 mil a year, and I hope he and his agent realize that and get a deal done with the G-Men ASAP.

the new york "football" giants is almost as annoying as "the" ohio state university
4/28/2009 2:12:22 AM
^no, because there is no other ohio state, while there once was another new york giants

Exactly.Be annoyed somewhere other than this thread.

Pumped for this season. Not sure how much action our new receivers are going to get judging on the rookie seasons of receivers we have drafted in the past, however Nicks might be forced into the lime light pretty quick. Hopefully Manningham will have a great camp and be ready to get out on the field early.I think we're going to see Hixon/Manningham starting and Smith out where Toomer has been the last few years and Moss seeing more action as the slot guy. If Moss doesn't prove some stuff quick though he's gong to lose his job fast. Kevin Boss will continue to be solid. Can't wait to see Manningham/Boss/Barden at the goal line.Running game is going to be nasty again and Bradshaw is really going to turn some heads. The defense is going to be absolutely nasty as long as everyone stays healthy. Hopefully the new D-coordinator will be able to keep things going. Kenny Phillips is going to be starting safety this year and will have a break out season. I expect to see him all over the field.

I'm sure it did, but I'm not sure what to think about Nicks.
4/28/2009 8:30:26 PM
Would have been nice to have a proven receiver while our team is built to win NOW, but we will just have to wait and see how things play out. Apparently Reese and company thing that the receivers we have now will be sufficient enough to take us deep into the playoffs. We'll have to see. I just hope our window doesn't close by the time our receivers develop into solid players.
4/29/2009 10:18:56 AM
We've got an easier schedule than last year, I think we'll end up with an even better record:Sunday, 9/13 vs. Washington WSunday, 9/20 @ Dallas LSunday, 9/27 @ Tampa Bay WSunday, 10/4 @ Kansas City WSunday, 10/11 vs. Oakland WSunday, 10/18 @ New Orleans WSunday, 10/25 vs. Arizona WSunday, 11/1 @ Philadelphia WSunday, 11/8 vs. San Diego WSunday, 11/15 BYE BYE BYE Sunday, 11/22 vs. Atlanta WThursday, 11/26 @ Denver WSunday, 12/6 vs. Dallas WSunday, 12/13 vs. Philadelphia WMonday, 12/21 @ Washington WSunday, 12/27 vs. Carolina LSunday, 1/3 @ Minnesota L (only because starters won't be playing and Minn will still be trying to get into the playoffs)
4/29/2009 12:34:31 PM
That's a hell of a winning streak you have us on. I'm totally down for that, but not sure we will get passed Arizona, San Diego, Philly, and Atlanta without a loss. That's a tough little 4 game stretch.
4/29/2009 12:54:21 PM
We won in Arizona last year, and they won't be as good this time around so I don't see it being a problem.I'm not too sure about SD and Atlanta either but at home I see us as the favorites. And I feel like the Giants will have it out for the Eagles next year, so I see a blowout at home and a close win on the road.
4/29/2009 12:59:28 PM
We will not double up on Philly and I think we could actually lose to Atlanta. The New Orleans game is also very questionable for me.I am going to put up my prediction in a few weeks.Oh, and PS:

5/7/2009 11:59:20 AM
What is up with Mario Manningham? That guy was a stud at Michigan and one of my favorite WRs in college. He didn't produce at all last year and I figured with the loss of Burress he should be able to step up to a starting role. Was it just bc of his injuries that he was MIA last year?
5/7/2009 12:02:36 PM
He also has to compete for time with Steve Smith.
5/7/2009 12:04:09 PM
Manningham was injured and didn't attend any of training camp. I believe he caught one ball all year (from David Carr in garbage time?), but also had a few reverse plays that he ran which went for negative yards both times he ran it.They expect him to produce this year. It will be interesting to see what kind of camp he has this summer.[Edited on May 7, 2009 at 1:21 PM. Reason : Actually looks like he caught 4 passes.]

Go. Giants. Yay.

Nicks looks like he might be the truth. Great hands and a very polished receiver, has made more than a few nice grabs in camp. When they get him in the weight room I expect him to be out there breaking tackles every Sunday.Barden looks about as good as expected. He will be good in the red zone immediately and after a while will develop into a solid receiver.Sintim looks good in coverage which was his major knock going into the draft. Plus he's a monster. I expect him to be starting at some point this year if he doesnt have any problems soaking up the scheme.I doubt the two corners we drafted late will have much impact at all...I am really pissed we didnt move up to get TE Jared Cook from South Carolina. Travis Beckum hasn't done much in camp and came up injured (nothing serious), though obviously he has plenty of time to prove himself. We gave a tryout to TE Cody Boyd from Washington State. The dude is 6'8" 264 lbs. He is turning some heads in camp and will most likely be one of the tryouts to earn a contract.Andre Brown is doing a great job in camp, but has shown fatigue and will have to work on his conditioning.DE Maurice Evans from PSU is straight killing motherfuckers. Sack after sack after sack in camp (multiple back-to-backers too). I would bet this kid makes the Pro Bowl one day after our coaches sink their teeth into him.
5/11/2009 2:54:39 PM
Oh, and S Sha'reef Rashad from UCF is going to make the team. And QB Rhett Bomar will either eventually replace Eli, or will be traded for quite a few picks. If he can get his momentum behind his throws and work on hitting the left side of the field he will be starting in this league very soon.An article on DE Maurice Evans:http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2009/05/undrafted_defensive_end_mauric.html#more[Edited on May 11, 2009 at 3:04 PM. 5/11/2009 3:03:42 PM
Rhett Bomar looked like a bag of dicks at the Senior Bowl...I honestly think that was a pity invite
5/11/2009 4:14:47 PM
A pity invite?
5/11/2009 11:44:14 PM
as in they couldn't get enough good QB's to come, so they offered a spot on one of the teams to the dude who blew his D-1A shot by being shady
5/12/2009 1:28:27 AM
Lol.He "blew his D-1A shot" by electing to transfer to a D-II school so he could play the next season.Oh and by the way, the Giants drafted him in the 5th round. He wasn't "invited" to try out, and he wasn't signed as an undrafted rookie free agent.Done trolling?
5/12/2009 2:20:23 AM
So, I hear the Giants are going to be hiring Brett Favre next season....as a place kicker.
5/12/2009 2:29:56 AM
^ umm, ok.I don't think that there is any chance of Rhett replacing Eli. Not sure what you're smoking. I doubt he will be getting many picks from us either. The only playing time he is going to get is during the preseason. The chances of him seeing the field in the regular season are slim to none, at least for the next couple of seasons anyway.
5/12/2009 8:56:30 AM
9one9, you're not very good at reading comprehension are you? the pity invite was to the senior bowl, not to try out. in fact, where in either of my posts did I ever say anything about something other than the senior bowl? done being illiterate?and you're on crack if you think that guy is either going to 1) replace Eli or 2) be worth some truckload of picks[Edited on May 12, 2009 at 9:58 AM. Reason : .]
5/12/2009 9:55:59 AM
Oh my bad for misreading your pathetic troll attempt.I should start paying more attention to your posts.I'm not actually going to do that.
5/12/2009 10:36:21 AM
^ I know what you're saying but I think that in 2010 when Carr is gone (I'm guessing he won't be around) there is no way we go into the regular season with a raw talent like Bomar in his second season as our #2 and will probably sign a veteran. Of course we had Lorenzen as our #2 in 07, but when Eli got hurt in week 1 we still put in Anthony Wright in the game as I remember.I would love to see him wow some scouts and turn into a great backup and get some picks like Matt Schaub did, but hopefully Eli will stay healthy and he won't see the field as much as Schaub did for Vick back in the day.I think Carr might be starting somewhere next year. He has looked damn good whenever he has played for us. He was excellent in the Minnesota game.Edit: Andre Woodson didn't even make the team for us last year and we actually only had 2 QBs on the active roster as I remember which is pretty crazy. I think it could be a serious battle for Woodson/Bomar to even make the team.[Edited on May 12, 2009 at 11:36 AM. Reason : .]

^ Good stuff. Can't wait until training camp comes around so we can see which of these receivers wants it more. I think these guys are really going to push themselves seeing as all of hte spots are wide open.
