Personally, I use Last Chance Garage. They're not "cheap" in the sense that you can go there and get a deal, but they seem like good people and I trust them. I guess that's important. Though, an alternator is pretty easy (from my experience). If you call around and get a quote, I or someone else might be able to do it for you for a better rate.

actually it is very simple, if you pop the tie rod end out of the knuckle, there is plenty of room for it to drop right out the bottom, nothing else to take loose other than the belt and wiring connectors to it

yes, thats true but itsnot like youre doing a 5.0 alt. ifyou dont have an air ratchet its gonna be a pain with all the extentions

no, i can tell you for a fact it can be done with a couple of combination wrenches in about a half hour, i changed one out on an '01 on an off ramp about a year ago, just because everything is difficult for you, doesn't mean that it is for people with fully functional brains

taking shit loose/off has nothing to do with being hard. a tune up on 4cyl ranger is easy, you still have to take 8 plugs and wires off.

poppin tie rods to change an alternator...they just dont make them like the ole' slant six anymoreor a 70-80's chevy small block truck where you can nap on the inner fender mid swap
