Anyone had any experiences with this place on Glenwood? i was looking at an 06 TL they had and was pretty close to coming to a deal. i go by there last Friday and all the cars are gone and no one is answering the phone. looks like another victim of the economy.

we used to inspect all their cars, back when Iusedtowork out that way, to my knowledge, the repo truck came out there and got 4 cars last week. they were buying cars at the lexus auction and werent paying on time. they were always cool when I would talk to them though[Edited on April 21, 2009 at 7:47 PM. i almost bought a car there, but kept getting the run around on pricing. i can't say they are any worse than other small used car lots, but i can say they aren't really any better.

I got kicked out of their lot once for looking at a car...they were douchebags.
4/22/2009 6:50:30 AM
i went by there again last night and there is a sign on the door saying they have filed bankruptcy. guess i am not getting that TL after all
4/22/2009 8:18:11 AM
wow damn^^i didnt think these guys were that big of failures.

I believe they have changed ownership at least once over the years. My friend's dad bought his 94 Rx-7 from Olde Raleigh Motors back in 97 and he was very happy with their service. At the time they only sold really nice cars (but hey, it was the 90s when people had money). They even put him on their parts account with what is now Southern States Mazda so he could get dealership-level discounts.
4/22/2009 9:25:30 AM
guy i was dealing with was named Chad and he said he was the owner. his dad worked there and they had a couple of other sales folks that just sat on that couch and watched tv everytime i was there.
4/22/2009 9:55:41 AM
this is insanity
4/22/2009 11:09:53 AM
seems like your kind of place, sketchy morons
4/24/2009 2:15:28 PM
i have a friend at DMV that told me tonight that Chad the owner of Olde Raleigh Motors was arrested this afternoon. 28 counts of fraud and he thought his bond was $5 million...pretty bad article in the NandO today about this place too. sad ending to that business.

Did some work for them about a year ago on a late model Range Rover. From what I can remember the story went like this- The truck came in with a bunch of faults in the transmission controller, most of which basically pointed to the torque converter burning up. It appeared someone in FL had tried to change the fluid and botched it, then ORM bought the car at auction and had it transported up. Trouble is, even if the vehicle had not had any problems they had overpaid for it, and on top of that they had already sold the truck and it had come back once with the buyer complaining about the error messages and so forth. (I should also mention when the autobox faults are serious enough those Range Rovers will disable the ABS and more importantly, pancake the air suspension.) Anyhow last I heard they were trying to sell the customer a warranty and the plan was then to get the warranty co. to pick up the transmission repair.

^good. they got what was coming to them. and that just proves that this is not true at all:
5/9/2009 2:15:58 PM
i think it is obvious now that this place went down NOT because of the economy but because the owner was a piece of shithe got what was coming to him if everything i have read is true

Owner of bankrupt used car dealership charged with fraud Posted: May. 9, 2009 Updated: May. 10, 2009Raleigh, N.C. — The owner of a used car dealership in Raleigh that went bankrupt in mid-April is facing more than two dozen fraud charges after an investigation by the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles' License and Theft Bureau.Chad Madeen Zuehlke, the owner of Olde Raleigh Motors, was arrested Friday on 27 counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. Zuehlke, 37, of 6217 Battleford Drive, was being held in the Wake County Jail under a $5 million secured bond Saturday. His first court appearance was set for Monday morning. The warrants allege that Zuehlke defrauded vehicle buyers between July 2008 and March 2009. He failed to pay off loans on vehicles as promised or sold cars with outstanding loans and didn't give the buyer the title to the vehicle, according to the warrants. The alleged fraud involved loans worth $754,969.87, the warrants say. The vehicles involved ranged from a 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant with an outstanding loan of $6,298, to a 2008 Cadillac Escalade with an outstanding loan of $87,888.Olde Raleigh Motors, at 6800 Glenwood Ave., filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on April 14, according to the Better Business Bureau's Web site. The used car dealership had been open since January 1995 and employed 12 people.Michael Karaman, of Fayetteville, said that he used a loan and cash to buy a 2005 Mercedes CKL320 from Olde Raleigh Motors on March 21. On April 30, his leinholder, First Citizens Bank, was still waiting to receive the title to the car, Karaman said."I paid them for a car expecting a title. ... I have a loan that I don't have a title for. Who is going to pay off what, with what money?" he wrote in an e-mail to WRAL News.He found out that Olde Raleigh Motors was in bankruptcy only when his daughter drove by the dealership and saw a note on the door, Karaman said.Karaman expressed skepticism that the dealership ever intended to deal in good trust."Chad (Zuehlke) at ORM (Olde Raleigh Motors) had to plan this; you just don't file for bankruptcy overnight," Karaman said. "All of these situations just weren't by accident. ORM intentionally defrauded many people."“I’m angry, frustrated, (and) don't know where to turn at the moment. This is all coming at me pretty quick this week, and I’m just trying to figure out where to go from here,” said Chris Alberding, another customer of Olde Raleigh Motors. The BBB has received six customer complaints against Olde Raleigh Motors in the past three years. Three of the complaints stated that the dealership "used dishonest sales practices," according to the BBB's Web site. The BBB defines dishonest sales practices as "misrepresentation of the product or service, high pressure sales practices, failure to disclose key conditions of the offer, and verbal representations not consistent with contractual terms or agreements."Five of the complaints were resolved satisfactorily by Olde Raleigh Motors, and one was closed after the company made reasonable efforts but the complainant was still dissatisfied.
