On behalf our the entire NC State football family, I want to thank you all for the record setting turnout (21,075) and unprecedented support (almost $30,000) for the inaugural Kay Yow Spring Football Game. It is this level of commitment that makes NC State such an amazing place for students, faculty, staff and coaches to call home.We want to send special thanks and recognize all of those who gave so generously to the Kay Yow WBCA Cancer Fund and Wolfpack Club’s Kay Yow Memorial Endowment on Saturday. The stories of exceptional generosity from the front gates continue to stream in, and provide a gleaming example of how special Coach Yow was to the Wolfpack community. This was only the first step to generate additional financial support for Coach Yow’s legacy, both here at NC State and beyond, and it is our goal to break attendance and donation records for many years to come. Now that the spring is over, and our status as North Carolina’s best attended spring game is intact, we are more excited than ever for the 2009 football season. We will continue to move forward as a program and put in the hard work necessary to reach our goals as champions in the classroom, the community and the football field. For me, September 3 cannot come soon enough, and we are excited to have all the Wolfpack Nation join us as we take on the Gamecocks from South Carolina. All the best, and as always...GO PACK! Sincerely,Tom O’BrienNC State Football Players Coaches, and Staff__________________________________________________________________________________This guy really gets it. not that this was ever a question but i am so proud to have him mold our young men. I know this could have been put in the Spring Game thread but I thought this was pretty cool that he took the time to send that out. Anyone at the game on Saturday could tell you that you could hear the happiness in his voice from the fan support.[Edited on April 20, 2009 at 4:22 PM. Reason : i, too, am excited for 9/3/09]

4/20/2009 4:39:54 PM
idk for sure, but there has to be only a dozen or so other schools in the country that had more attendance for a spring game...
4/20/2009 4:42:51 PM
probably more than a dozenbut that doesn't take away from an awesome scrimmage atmosphere. i'm sure we really impressed the recruits there

4/20/2009 5:14:23 PM
we need to open up both sides. and why did we only get 30K from 21K people? you cheap bastards.
4/20/2009 5:30:53 PM
how much did you donate?dont be quick to judge since NC has a nice unemployment rate
4/20/2009 5:32:43 PM
i figured we could get around 100K, i put in my 20. it'll probably be all the donating i do this year. then again i don't know that they were really caring what people put ini'm not tryin to be a dick or think i'm awesome or anything, just thought most people would put in more than a dollar..[Edited on April 20, 2009 at 5:40 PM. 4/20/2009 5:35:34 PM
well you have to consider those that didn't put in money (ex. young kids) that were counted in the attendance.
4/20/2009 5:46:32 PM
funny story, one of my buddies went to the game and was drinking a bottle of gatorade or something, and when he walked by the donation bin he dropped his bottle in the hole thinking it was recycling. some lady working at the donation bins gave him the stinkeye. when he realized what happened he put in his dollar, and ran away with his tail down
4/20/2009 9:42:26 PM
^I thought you were going to say that he reached in to get the bottle out, and the donation-taking-ladies tackled him.
4/20/2009 9:49:07 PM
Talk about cheap bastards...guy in front of me asked for change for $5. Lady had to dig through the trash can for 4 ones. LOL.

Rivals recently rated the top 30 football coaches and TOB ranked in at 14 right behind Jim Tressel.Bitch Davis made the "other" categorylolhttp://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=937921,/]
4/21/2009 1:01:34 PM
how are they comparing Jim Tressel to Woody Hayes???
4/21/2009 3:34:13 PM
And HOW can they even put RichRod in that list??????????
4/22/2009 12:19:06 PM
^^yeah. That's pretty much college football blasphemy.
4/22/2009 12:54:00 PM
4/22/2009 1:05:45 PM
I'd argue that Rich Rod is at least a better selection than Kirk Ferentz, not sure why he was ranked so highly.
4/22/2009 1:09:21 PM
Kirk Ferentz is seemingly a candidate for every job that comes open. Is winning at Iowa that impressive? His last few years have been less than desirable.
4/22/2009 1:13:05 PM
didn't they just blowout the Gamecocks in the Outback bowl? Ferentz is a very good coach, though still quite overpaid.
4/22/2009 1:15:31 PM
Ya! I'm just going on memory here, but didn't he have one Big Ten championship and a few other decent years? His last few have been subpar...
