Need some exhaust work done cheap. It should be pretty simple from the looks of it. I just want to go some place priced decent without complete morons....Or if I just cut all the tubes myself and mark lines where I want them to line up can someone on here do it (zxappeal)?I think the piping is mild steel but the muffler is stainless.

i swear there are threads about this and henry's muffler shop...
4/19/2009 5:06:05 PM
What exactly do you swear?

Henry's in north raleigh. They do little repairs like that all the time.
4/19/2009 5:38:41 PM

4/19/2009 6:20:37 PM
your mom does a pretty cheap DP

Henry's is a great place to go.The one on Capitol closer to down town is where Henry works. The one near Atlantic is where Donald works. They are the guys who do the best work.
4/19/2009 10:39:35 PM
Bob's is good too. Off junction blvd near garner
4/19/2009 10:58:01 PM
^agreed. Bobs is cheap and does a really good and quick job
4/20/2009 4:04:36 AM
sounds good.thanks for the advice guys.
4/20/2009 7:50:22 AM
3rd on bob's
4/20/2009 8:18:29 AM
isn't bob, henry's son?
4/20/2009 8:29:22 AM
Henry is Bob's son
4/20/2009 9:36:21 AM

RJ's custom piping behind the Carmax on Capital is better than Henry's or Bob's. He does things the right way plus he actually has a mandrel bender, which none of those other places have.
4/20/2009 7:13:50 PM
^maybe but cheap he's not.
4/20/2009 7:37:14 PM
How much do you people think it would cost for a cat-back system if I provide the muffler and outlet tip? There's also a Bob's in Durham that I have heard good things about.
4/20/2009 11:07:12 PM
^^ Whatever! Dont confuse him with R&J's in Apex.
4/22/2009 12:21:23 AM
^talk about a fucking expinsive. what ever happend Quinn?
4/22/2009 9:23:51 AM
i would jump in here and say ronnie isn't that cheap.. but everyone i've talked to that went there wanted mandrel bent stainless or aluminum (exhaust or ic piping).. so i guess it is all relative. his prices have come down a little (from what i can tell) since he first opened up (on new bern)that said, he is who i will be taking my project car to when it comes time for exhaust (very soon)[Edited on April 22, 2009 at 5:55 PM. you get that 190% krinkle bend on the snatch
4/23/2009 9:20:32 AM
just buy some mandrel bends and pipe and tig it up yourself

Ok so 3-5 week update.I got the cheapest cat they had so I could pass visual inspection (obd-1). They fabricated it so I could bolt my "test pipe" in its place. Did a good job. Problem is my car ran so rich in the high RPM vacuum regions that i destroyed that cat already! We dont need arghx to tell us what map sensor column you trace when you close throttle plate between gear shifts. I still thought it would survive more than 3 weeks! They also replaced 2 bolts with standard sized heads. I have nothing but metric tools. This is a japanese car. Service was decent, but the guys seemed to hate their 'careers'. I would go again.the end

I'm guessing here that the bolts don't have little numbers engraved in the side advertising that they are standard, and Quinn discovered this incompatibility when the sizes you posted (and plenty in between) didn't work. But thanks for saving the day again

all set for thursday....installing two magnaflow mufflers at Henry's as well as two nice ass stainless steel exhaust tips...each tip they said is $50 = $100not even sure how much the mufflers are...should be around $260 but getting everything done for $340 out the door.is that a good price? are magnaflows good?[Edited on September 21, 2009 at 8:21 PM. The mufflers are $80-$120 a piece. The tips are that expensive, even on ebay, in a lot of cases. All in all, not a terrible deal.
9/21/2009 8:33:58 PM
^ thanks. really didn't do much research just heard so many good things about Henry's and a friend of mine just did similar work to his 09 challenger and it sounds great.
9/21/2009 8:59:20 PM
that sounds high actually, you should have done some more research with local custom exhaust shops
9/21/2009 9:02:24 PM
interweb has the magnaflows averaging about 90 a piece, and tips start at 25 each. On the low end, that is $230 for parts.

Meineke on capital across from Phantasm, I will always go there if I need cheap exhaust work done. The guys are real cool there and I've taken 3 cars to them, they do good work.
