Going to see one of these today after work. Any recommendations on which to see? I've heard they are both pretty funny...

Adventureland, only because it will probably not be in theaters as long.Showtimes this week at the Galaxy are (1:10), (3:55), 7:10, and 9:35.

Seeing O&R this weekend, but I can say that Adventureland was really good. It's not a laugh riot, but it's not supposed to be. Most people have compared it to the John Hughes 80's movies, and that's fair. Plus, the soundtrack is pretty awesome.

see Observe & Report in theaters, rent Adventureland when it comes out on DVD in a month or two
4/10/2009 2:13:19 PM
adventureland looks like it actually might be a decent movie, O&R looks like some thrown together shit that might have a few funny moments

adventureland looks like more nick&norah/Juno garbage.I'm hearing Observe and Report's tone being compared to Taxi Driver. which if true renders the trailers complete lies.
4/10/2009 2:51:58 PM
Rogan compared it to Taxi Driver on Craig Ferguson. It's probably like the comedy version of taxi driver.

Observe & Report is at times one of the most brutal and disgusting movies I've ever seen. And it's also fucking hilarious.
4/10/2009 8:57:18 PM
i'm surprised how often observe & report is compared to taxi driver, so that makes it a lot more interesting for me. still, i'd rather see adventureland in theaters.

Can't speak for Adventureland, but I thought Observe and Report was strangely awesome. It'll make you laugh your ass off one second and gag the very next. It'll damn near make you cry too. Seth Rogen is great, but the supporting cast is what makes the movie. Warning though ... if you take a "good" girl to see this movie, she might hate you for a long, long time.[Edited on April 11, 2009 at 12:22 AM. Reason : ]

read a review that say this isnt filled with rogen wit like previous rogen movies[Edited on April 11, 2009 at 12:26 AM. Reason : said its way better than paul blart, but that obvious]
4/11/2009 12:25:44 AM
AdventurelandI liked it[Edited on April 11, 2009 at 12:34 AM. Reason : plus it has a better soundtrack]

^^Definitely not. It has a bizarre, dark comedy vibe that kind of messes with you emotionally at times. I read the director would make them reshoot the scene if he felt it was overly comedic. I guess you could say it's funny without being retarded funny ... think Eastbound and Down with a more likable lead character.[Edited on April 11, 2009 at 12:44 AM. Reason : ]

I saw adventureland. it pretty much is that 'trying-to-be-all-indie-and-shit' teen comedies but it is still enjoyable. They mentioned lou reed at least 5-6 times, and i caught at least 3 joy division references. I swear the only thing they forgot to include was a Zach Braff style timeout to sell a new Shins album.
4/11/2009 4:36:14 AM
I saw observe & report last night, go see something else.
4/11/2009 8:51:32 AM
^ I thought the references were way-overdone as well. I didn't catch any Joy Division refs. What were they?
4/11/2009 4:15:03 PM
I saw "Observe and Report" last night with low expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was much funnier than I expected.
4/11/2009 4:27:18 PM
I think observe and report will be funny.Adventureland actually sucked. Well, it may not have been so bad if I knew going in that it was going to be an even less funny juno-esque drama instead of something more like Superbad.
4/11/2009 4:30:25 PM
I didn't particularly like either of them.
4/11/2009 9:27:25 PM
I thought both of them were good, but I think will be more enjoyable watching @ home, versus in the theater. Parts of R&O actually reminded me of Lebowski, which I didn't expect.
4/11/2009 11:06:35 PM
Observe and Report was just short of amazing. If the director had took a turn and decided to go as dark as possible it would have been a fucking movie to end all movies. It's like if American Pie fucked American Beauty and their son got a job working in a mall.I can see why the Taxi Driver comparisons exist.
4/11/2009 11:18:06 PM
Even if O&R wasn't an awesome movie (which it was) I'd recommend it just because of "The Hangover" preview before it starts. I can't ever remember laughing that hard during a preview.
4/12/2009 12:06:46 AM
^ Exactly, the Hangover preview was hilarious. I can't wait to see that movie.
4/12/2009 5:03:36 PM
It looked funny, but a combination of "What Happens in Vegas" & "Dude, Where's My Car?". I think what spoiled it for me was that they stole Mike Tyson's "In the Air of the Night" scene from Zach G's last sitcom that bombed (Carpoolers?). I'm there, but I'm not expecting my mind to be blown.

Ended up seeing O & R...overall thought it was pretty solid. However, the funniest person in the movie was Ronnie's mom. Way too much penis though.
4/13/2009 1:12:37 PM
Whoa, so Anna Faris was in a good movie?
4/13/2009 3:09:56 PM
She was actually a big part of why the movie was good ... even though she plays a pretty repulsive character.
4/13/2009 11:56:38 PM
The ending of O&R movie kinda caught me by surprise. The way the crowd reacts to the situation was just weird.
