So I didnt think much of it earlier, but my cat wa favoring his left eye with his front paw, and well, no its to the point were he will not leave it alone, and he cant open it all the way, and the upper eye lid is a little swollen, Ive never had a problem with him. only thing I can say is ,he loves sitting by the window, he like to play around, doesnt really get into a lot of trouble with house hold items, and.. well thats about it. what can i do untill the vet opens, hes fucking miserable.anybody ever delt with Animal Kingdom, vet. in Cary, off of Harrison

Are you taking him to a late night place or waiting until the morning?

It's probably getting an eye infection as a result of an upper respiratory infection. Many cats are lifelong carriers of a virus that causes these episodes to occur occasionally. Or he could be having an allergic reaction to something. You could give him half of a benadryl tablet. It might give some relief. If not, it will at least make him sleepy.[Edited on April 7, 2009 at 12:09 AM. Reason : ]

^^ is what happened to our cat. He has one eye that swells up from time to time because of his upper respiratory infection.Other options could be that he got stung by something, or he's allergic to something in the air. Make sure he doesn't scratch it, the last thing you want is a scratched cornea or something. You can put warmth on it, or at least make sure it's clean. You usually want to take cats in with a new eye issue to the vet, but unless you think he's scratched the eye, you could probably avoid the emergency fee and take him in the morning.Has he been stressed lately?[Edited on April 7, 2009 at 12:17 AM. this happened to my cat a few years agoit'll be swollen, but I'd wait until the morning to go to the vet to get him some eye stuff for it, just because it's not threatening, and it's too expensive to call them up in the middle of the night
4/7/2009 12:21:12 AM
no, no stress really, its not bothering him to the point that he cant get comfortable and take a little cat nap. Didnt know you could give a cat benadryl?
4/7/2009 12:22:20 AM
Yeah, you can.
4/7/2009 12:29:03 AM
Could've been a spider bite, that (or something along those line) happened to one of our cats

I'd recommend Animal Eye Care off Tryon in Cary. My wife and I were referred there by a general vet, so basically we paid that vet $40 to tell us to take our cat to AEC.

So i think i broke my cats leg. last night i was playing with him and lifted up the ben bag he was in and he jumped out, was about 4 feet in the air and he hit this silly little ottaman(on the way down). didnt think anything of it till this am, he was(still is ) limpimping around and bites/hisses at me when i go to touch him. i think ive got it narrowed down to about 4 inches above his paws. Ive called the Vet. but have not heard back from them, at the same time, he did have a shot in that leg yesterday, and hes jumped from higher. UGH help me TWW
4/8/2009 4:11:50 PM
i dont think you need pets...
4/8/2009 4:21:20 PM
cats don't show pain as easily as other animals or people.
4/8/2009 4:23:14 PM
^^ why do you say that?
4/8/2009 4:32:32 PM
bonnie says him limping is normal after the shots he got sometimes it leaves them sore. she said if hes not better by monday then to take him in
4/8/2009 5:12:25 PM
the shots should not leave him sore enough to be limping. you should take him in.
4/8/2009 7:57:58 PM
es walking and eating more, and the limp has got a little better, but im gonna see whats up tomorrow, if it hasnt got better by 11 then hes goin in
