As usual, underrated but we will hang around in the wildcard for a while. I think this year we will have a shot at it despite how loaded the Phillies and Mets appear. And with the sick opening day line:
4/6/2009 6:30:52 PM
Great start to the season. If Bonifacio keeps it up we are going to have some sick speed on the bases with him, Hanley and Maybin. Now we gotta keep up the play against a real team.
4/9/2009 7:19:22 AM
there's good power and i think the pitching is under-rated. its hard to read much into a sweep of the nats though.
4/9/2009 5:00:04 PM
Like I said, now lets do it against a real team. All the same this is the first time we've started 3-0 since the last world series win so I'll take it. But I don't think anyone was expecting the offense to be this effective considering they were trying to shift away from offense to defense this off season.
4/10/2009 6:53:54 AM
Fuck the mets.
4/10/2009 9:01:15 PM
cantu with the game winning single, marlins with the win.5-4
4/10/2009 10:46:37 PM
Great game. First time ever at 4-0!
4/10/2009 11:23:23 PM
the streak is over. there goes the bid for 162-0.
4/11/2009 11:24:30 PM
Haha, its okay, 4-1 is a good start. Would be great if we could beat the Mets today though.
4/12/2009 12:52:26 PM
I can't say I ever expected us to have this good of a start to the season. The NL East is by far the toughest division in the NL and the Marlins are stepping it up so far. If we can win the series against the Braves that would be killer.
4/15/2009 11:21:14 AM
honestly. does there really have to be a separate thread for every shitty fucking team in this shitty fucking sport on here?
4/15/2009 11:21:56 AM
Honestly you are a shitty sports fan for not liking baseball.
4/15/2009 11:36:23 AM
Josh Johnson got NL player of the week
4/15/2009 12:09:55 PM
There will not be another firesale this year if by some chance they win the series. They are going to start signing guys to long term contracts now. New stadium and new name soon. Not sure how i feel about miami marlins.
4/15/2009 1:30:52 PM
it'll make my inaugural season mini-bat with florida marlins on the side all the more intriguing though.
4/15/2009 5:28:26 PM
I'll be fine with Miami Marlins as long as they don't change the colors. I've heard rumblings orange is gonna be added. That would look too much like the Dolphins. And if they remove teal then we will be the Orioles.
4/15/2009 5:30:48 PM
Fuck the braves
4/15/2009 10:10:33 PM
nice 9th...5 runs to blow it wide open. DONT BLOW IT.
4/15/2009 10:15:57 PM
Technically, when both you guys are on TWW at the same time, it could be the largest congregation of Marlins fans in the world.Unless there is a Flo-rida concert after the game of course
4/15/2009 10:21:45 PM
Yeah I'm not really enjoying the Marlins bandwagon that is already starting to form. As much as I'm loving their early success I really can't stand bandwagon fans, whether they are supporting one of my teams or a team I despise.
4/15/2009 11:02:23 PM
Bandwagon? Two weeks into the season? Really?I can tell you how this one ends.
4/15/2009 11:04:14 PM
Considering how many marlins fans there actually are, so far it is starting to be a bandwagon, yes.
4/15/2009 11:05:53 PM
So you're saying there's a third Marlins fan? Geez...Stick the three of you in Dolphin Stadium and you're one short of setting an attendance record.
4/15/2009 11:12:18 PM
I'm sorry is someone being a bitter braves fan?
4/15/2009 11:15:27 PM
Ha BitterIt's two games in April, don't get ahead of yourself buddy.I'll let you get back to talking to yourself now.
4/15/2009 11:17:30 PM
The other Marlins fan and I will continue keeping the thread up, thanks. And no shit it is only April, so why are you getting so upset already?
4/15/2009 11:20:05 PM
Where was I getting upset? Are all Marlins fans this sensitive? Can you guys not take a little ribbing?
4/15/2009 11:21:14 PM
You are the one who got set off when I called you bitter, I can take all the ribbing you want to send.
4/15/2009 11:22:14 PM
The response you perceived as "upset" was, and I quote, "Ha"
4/15/2009 11:24:36 PM
Marlins are a well run franchise...not only should the Braves be concerned about them, but also the Mets and Phillies (the Nationals just suck)Somehow, someway, the Marlins keep playing good ball after getting rid of all their star players...they are a well run franchise...there is a reason they have won 2 World Series in their brief existance
4/15/2009 11:26:08 PM
So if you care so little why are you still here posting?^ They have by far one of the best front offices in baseball. Now all they need is to get the ground broken on the new stadium and start signing some guys long term. They are moving in the right direction, and it is a very different direction as when they won the previous series. The NL East in general is becoming top notch. I would be very surprised to see a team from any other division win the wild card and I wouldn't be surprised to see any combination of two teams from the east (Washington not included) win the division/wild card. The Marlins still have some work to do and it would be a nice surprise for them to make the playoffs this year, but with how young the majority of the team is it gives me good hope for the future.[Edited on April 15, 2009 at 11:30 PM. 4/15/2009 11:26:41 PM
I do care about the Marlins -- a lot actually, at least until the middle of the summer when one of our teams fizzles and dies.I keep posting because you keep responding.
4/15/2009 11:28:37 PM
a gonzaga fan complaining about bandwagon fansreally?
4/15/2009 11:29:59 PM
Except I've been a Gonzaga fan since I was in elementary school, way before the bandwagon started.
4/15/2009 11:31:02 PM
and why did you become a gonzaga fan?
4/15/2009 11:34:57 PM
Because my neighbor at the time's family were gonzaga fans. I started cheering with them and I've followed them ever since, if you really care.
4/15/2009 11:37:26 PM
I'm glad your neighbor wasn't a child rapist
4/15/2009 11:39:18 PM
the marlins have some awesome scouts. to keep finding diamonds in the rough every year is impressive.i know the tendency is to think they'll fade, but they won 84 games last year and werent ever really able to get their pitching rotation stabilized with all the injuries. with a little less reliance on the homers and a more complete and consistent pitching staff, i could see them bein in the running for the wild card this year, which is more than most people would've figured before the season.
4/15/2009 11:41:07 PM
LET'S GO FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4/16/2009 4:11:38 PM
ahaha at Ernie
4/16/2009 4:19:04 PM
Awesome game last night. Wish Nolasco had showed up a little more, but good to see Cody getting his power back.
4/18/2009 7:16:13 AM
I hope Nolasco picks it up. I've got him on a couple fantasy teams.Last year, he had a 5.79 ERA in April and ~4.50 ERA in May but ended with a 3.52 ERA and a very low WHIP. Hopefully he's just a slow starter. I only have one year to base this on.
4/18/2009 10:01:24 AM
I, too, hope he picks it up for your Fantasy Team.
4/18/2009 1:12:24 PM
Wow another crazy game today. Go fish!
4/18/2009 4:41:19 PM
nice comeback. i saw they were down 3 in the 8th and said to a friend that they were about to drop their 2nd game. came back a couple hours later and was like, wtf? sounds like the nationals pulled a wolfpack.
4/18/2009 6:12:33 PM
4/18/2009 6:13:09 PM
i said i wish i could go back, put some money on the cubbies
4/18/2009 6:20:21 PM
Almost makes me feel bad for the nationals. They just can't seem to put the Marlins away.
4/19/2009 5:00:45 PM
I wish the Mudcats would have stayed as the Marlins' affiliate. Now, they have the crappy Reds as their big league team.
4/19/2009 5:03:28 PM
would have been nice if Griffey was still w/ the Redsmaybe he could have played for the mudcats with his injury issues
4/19/2009 5:04:36 PM
