So I was looking for classes to register, and I was planning on taking ma 242 over the summer. I saw some available classes, but there are no instructors, it just says staff. When will they update who the instructors are or is there any way to find out? And does anyone know anything of taking ma 242 over the summer. Like is there webassign, or maple? Thanks in advance.

i had it with Moody Chu during a fall semester. there was webassign and maple.pretty much every teacher does maple. just get the completed ones from a friend and switch to your numbers. webassign depends on the teacher. chu gave us unlimited submissions and it counted the same as a test. if it says "staff", you might have a TA, which was always cool in my book

I took it a long time ago and there was maple and webassign. It was easy, though.

i took it with Nathan Jing, really nice asian guy with PERFECT handwriting. it was awesome. We didn't do webassign or Maple... not sure if all profs are like that. It was a decent class, too.

the math department webpage will list the instructors for each section before registration will... check there.

FYI: "Norris" is Mr. Maple, the guy who writes all the Maple assignments for 242 (all calculus i think). I had him, you will do Maple (definitely), and sometimes extra Maples (we had 9 due). I wouldn't get him if you don't like Maple. No webassign w/ Norris though. On the other hand: learning Maple well enough w/ him lets me do most of the problems i can't solve by hand (i'm a junior in ME). That's kinda nice! And yes, they usually update instructors a time or two before the semester starts.

Take April Alston or some shit. She made fridays optional and would cancel class if we were ahead of schedule. There was always extra credit stuff, which is easy if you know someone else who is a math nerd and 9 times out of 10 not impossible to solve on your own. She also dedicated days to helping with webassign and maple.idk if Dempster teaches it but by all means avoid her. She expects you to remember random equations fro precal on tests and use them if its easier than the shit you learned in class. There was one surface area question that we had to set up and instead of doing the whole integral bullshit thing we were supposed to use some random trig identity and then realize that all we had to do was use the standard equation for area of a circle. There is maple, but as always in any math class, make friends with people the first week and figure out which one of them knows someone who took it last semester or what not.Use Maple to do all your homework after the first 2 or 3 questions (so that you know that you can do it), but don't waste hours trying to do the maple home works. If i remember correctly 90% of the maple is like doing something once, copying and pasting it and just changing the bounds for integrals.I'm Big Business and i approved this message./]

Take it with Stitzenger. I had him last summer in session 2 and it was super easy. He replaces 1 of your term test grades with your Maple grade. No Homework and he tells you everything thats going to be on the tests. He is kind of old so idk if he is still here. I feel like everyone in the class got an A or at least a B.

Loved having it with Alston. Norris isnt bad, but ya you will have extra maple. Good thing is, hes really nice about helping you with it.
