i'd rather have meth, but lsd works

Tires. even if you weld the diff up, two times no traction is still no traction.
3/27/2009 12:43:27 PM
but i think a lot of people would argue that two regular tires will have much much more grip overall then one powered tire, no matter how bad ass that one tire is, comparatively. I say fuck the LSD and buy a locker.
3/27/2009 12:45:46 PM
what is the vehicle?
3/27/2009 1:02:05 PM
^I'm pretty sure it's his KA-T 240SX.
3/27/2009 1:04:59 PM
hmmmmi would go with:- decent sidewall height- lowest pressure you can stand- lsd/locker

I'm assuming it's the mentality of shockloading the drivetrain and spinning both tires, kindof like in the snow?GET A TORSEN[Edited on March 27, 2009 at 5:19 PM. Reason : ok im not serious about that]
3/27/2009 5:18:39 PM
i don't know what the mentality is, i just know it's wrong. the argument could be made for tires over lsd/locker/spool/weld if he was willing to run something that had the chance to dead hook like a drag radial/slick, but not otherwise.the argument of running an open diff in snow/ice is more about vehicle control than traction. open is much less likely to put your ass in a ditch without warning.

lower pressure in a radial will just give you a smaller contact patch
3/27/2009 5:49:50 PM
center bowing inward? i guess they are designed for max contact patch at spec pressure

If you drive it daily just don't weld the damn diff. That being said I do have a spare R200 open if you want to buy it and weld it If it's for your 240 I'm sure you can find someone selling on CN, or go to a junkyard and get a j30 diff.I have the stock vLSD and falken rt615s and I'm happy at autoX with mine. Why would you drag a 240 anyways, they suck balls at it. Especially that gay 1st gear.

^^^yep. same with most off road oriented radials too. ^^i don't think anyone is really being serious about welding it. though, i did weld up jsquared's s13 unit back in the day.
3/30/2009 4:37:45 PM
weld it
