Somehow I missed this, but Leo Mazzone, the long time braves pitching coach, who is well known for his rocking, has been out of baseball entirely for the last 2 seasons and now does a radio show. Braves: Please, Please, Please, Please HIRE MAZZONE“I spent 24 years pitching and coaching in the minor leagues, then 18 in the majors. I want back in that uniform. The radio people have treated me wonderfully, and I’m still living well. Just let it be known that salary is no issue.”http://blogs.ajc.com/furman-bisher-blog/2009/03/18/ex-brave-mazzone-wants-to-get-back-into-coaching/?cxntfid=blogs_furman_bisher_blog[Edited on March 22, 2009 at 9:20 PM. ^I did, he said I was some dumb college kid who didnt know anything about baseball and i didnt really have a retort, so....But Mazzone was such a huge part of the braves success for so long and i expected him to be the head coach after bobby finally stepped down, its sad that he isnt even in baseball at all when he really wants to be and has all the ability/knowledge to do so.

Maybe he shouldn't have left Atlanta for an AL East bottom-feeder

I thought he used to be our OC in football?

I'm sure people in the Braves' front office hadn't even thought about it until now when they checked this thread

i think mazzone was a product of working with maddux, smoltz and glavine for so long. i know the orioles didn't really have the best pitching talent when mazzone was there, but you'd think they'd show a little bit of improvement if he was all that he was made out to be.

Mazzone's book is a good read. It's pretty much about him scratching his nuts and telling dirty jokes with Maddux for 10 years.
