Where to buy?Or.... since I just read that they are actually narrower, but longer than a standard king - Anyone know if there any places that carry a size bigger than just king?[Edited on March 13, 2009 at 11:35 PM. Reason : The More You Know]

You could always buy a King and a Twin and slide them together should the need arise for a bigger bed....

I'D LIKE TO SLIDE A COUPLE TWINS INTO MY KING SIZE

It will be a pain to find sheets and comforters for a California king-size bed around here, so take that into account.

It isn't difficult to find sheets for a California King. No, you won't find them in Target, but you can find them at any department store. My grandmother has had a California King for years. She and her husband were a large couple (tall and wide) and needed the extra room. Now, she's an itty bitty widow and jokes about how she can sleep all over the bed -- even sideways.Edit: Do you need a WIDER bed or a LONGER bed? Everyone in my family is well over 6ft tall (I'm the freak) and I actually have some information on beds for taller people. One of the beds at my grandmother's house has an extra 6 inches at the bottom. [Edited on March 14, 2009 at 10:37 AM. Reason : .]

california king ftwI know this might sound crazy, but we got ours at *gasp* A MATTRESS STORE!

I am only 6ft, so I don't need the california king and would prefer the width over length. So standard king is okay... but again, the question is: Is there anywhere that has larger than standard king/california king readily available... in their showroom for example? I know you can customize anything for $texasbed.

Even department stores are hit or miss with California King stuff. You also can't find it at TJ Maxx, Marshals, Ross, Bed Bath & Beyond (which surprised me), Sam's Club, etc. I got my sheets off Overstock.com.[Edited on March 14, 2009 at 2:31 PM. Reason : l]

move to California?

A lot of places that don't have Cali. King sized stuff in the store will offer it online only, so you can figure out what you like in store, feel it, etc... and then just order your size online. Bed Bath and Beyond is like this, so is Target, etc. I've had a hard time finding stuff in store, but that doesn't mean you're limited or have to guess what you're gonna get.

King/Cali King is great. You can hook up with a girl and then be like "YO, DON'T CROSS THIS IMAGINARY LINE UNTIL AFTER 9:00 a.m." That way you have plenty of room to sleep.
3/14/2009 6:42:35 PM
lol @ my own thread... you peopleI guess the answer is king or nothing. [/thread]
3/14/2009 6:59:02 PM
Yes, king is the answer. Unless you're a couple whose total weight is over 900 lbs. or you're sleeping with like 4 wives a king should offer plenty of room.
