I just bought a new PC (no wireless adapter yet) but due to my internet being provided as a wireless amenity I cannot directly connect it to the internet. I connected it to my laptop via LAN and can get it to recognize my shared files, but I hit road blocks every time I try to share my laptop's wireless connection. Laptop is running XP Pro sp1 (i know, i know), PC is running Vista UltimateThe reason I need the PC connected to the internet is so I can play Half-Life 2 It's a legit 5-cd copy I bought back when it came out but have never played due to not having a PC capable of running it till now. Steam won't allow the game to run until it's done its online verification BS. So I need eithera) help connecting my PC to the internet via my laptop's wireless connection, orb) help finding a working patch to allow the game to run sans the Steam clientThank you much!

btw one problem is that on the laptop when i'm in the advanced tab of my wireless connection properties and i click "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" I get an error that says "the specified service does not exist as an installed service"could be an sp1 issue? installing a laundry list of updates with windows update now...finding the no-steam crack would be much easier methinksedit: okay just kidding, after finding the first guide to cracking steam that actually sounds legit, i'm not so sure http://forums.prophecy.co.za/f76/final-hl2-no-steam-required-walkthrough-5532/[Edited on March 13, 2009 at 11:11 PM.
