I was at the Hyundai dealership maybe two months ago and I sat in the Genesis sedan. It definitely had way higher interior build quality than all the other models, by far.
3/13/2009 10:20:24 PM
Yeah, I'd take one of those coupes. It looks pretty neat, though there should be an option to buy a blacked out grill for it (with the logo dark as well).I always think the Hyundai logo just looks silly as crap.
3/14/2009 1:57:36 AM
i think the aftermarket on these will play a huge role in how they sell. hyundia needs to take that scion approach on this one .
3/14/2009 5:12:05 AM
is it me or does the first pic look like it has camber issues?
3/14/2009 1:21:12 PM
the wheel is turned in both pics.there is a pretty good aftermarket gearing up for it.[Edited on March 14, 2009 at 2:26 PM. Reason : dunno about camber.]
3/14/2009 2:25:46 PM
it needs that camber so it wont rub . look at the size of the wheel. the top of the tire is inside the wheel well.
3/14/2009 2:45:43 PM
that's an aftermarket Volk racing wheel, just fyi[Edited on March 14, 2009 at 4:04 PM. Reason : volk TE37, to be exact]
3/14/2009 4:03:59 PM
3/14/2009 6:46:42 PM
yah, 2500 dollars worth of wheels can make a lot of cars look better
3/14/2009 7:16:41 PM
3/14/2009 8:00:04 PM
3/14/2009 8:31:52 PM

3/14/2009 8:50:25 PM

3/14/2009 9:42:48 PM

3/14/2009 9:50:28 PM
nobody saw it coming
3/15/2009 8:08:39 AM
3/15/2009 11:07:12 AM
Yeah, I think that is a pretty sharp car.
3/15/2009 2:10:37 PM
It looks good but after seeing it with the body kit I think it will be the next mexican car of choice to mod
3/15/2009 6:10:13 PM
eh, 24k starting in this day isn't going to attract any kind of rice. the import tuner trend is mostly dead. hopefully the shitty magazines will go too
3/15/2009 8:11:10 PM
^ that is, til the next fast and furious movie comes out
3/15/2009 8:31:34 PM
if i had one, the pic i posted is what mine would look like. but now that someone else has it...HRE wheels for me (j/k - they're heavy).
3/15/2009 8:38:55 PM
3/15/2009 10:09:44 PM
Its an ugly car that doesn't outperforming anything Japanese, let alone German whose selling point is the fact that it costs 30 thousand dollars.Whats there to discuss, really?
3/18/2009 12:37:01 AM
3/18/2009 12:41:55 AM
They got 210 hp 2.0L turbo RWD at 22k .. u can't beat that
4/3/2009 9:03:30 AM
Car's pretty hefty though. There's a reason there's a better engine option.
4/3/2009 1:39:56 PM
I remember when Hyundai said this car will be the least expensive 300hp RWD coupe on the market. But I think they lose that claim with the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro V6.Ooops!
4/3/2009 1:43:44 PM
Chevy is going to put a 300hp V6 in a camaro? That's a pretty good engine design for that price bracket.
4/3/2009 6:39:03 PM
^^^"they" say that the 4banger is the one to get for better tune-ability right out the box.
4/3/2009 7:19:21 PM
i'd hit it
4/3/2009 8:18:13 PM
^^^Quinn, it's been common knowledge for a while now. The base engine is the 3.6L direct injection V6.^^Quite true. In fact, I just read in this month's Car and Driver that the base 2.0 turbo engine is in fact a detuned Lancer Evolution engine and 300-400hp is a hop skip away.
4/9/2009 12:23:14 PM
^But where's the torque at?
4/9/2009 12:49:05 PM
I was just at a Hyundai dealership yesterday and I look at the only one they had on the lot, a lower end automatic 4 cylinder model. The interior was decent, if bland. Under the hood was impressive. Everything seemed very accessible to work on. The turbo is easy to get to and didn't even have a bunch of heat shields on it. I also noticed that it didn't have a MAF sensor. It's kind of unusual to see a turbo speed density car these days.the back end looked too much like a G6 coupe. I definitely saw potential in the vehicle though... I think they were asking $24k for that particular option set.
4/9/2009 3:07:06 PM
After some research, I've found that the difference between sticker and invoice is ~$1k for the 2.0L models, ~$1,400 for the v6 models. I don't know how accurate that is, but that leaves little wiggle room in terms of negotiations. ^did you drive it?[Edited on April 9, 2009 at 3:42 PM. Reason : .]
4/9/2009 3:41:45 PM
I didn't drive it. I could have, but I just didn't have any motivation to drive the automatic and of course deal with the sales lady after the test drive. It was at Southern States Hyundai. I happened to be at the Mazda dealership in the same complex to order a random bolt I needed for my car.She told me and the friend I was with that they won't be getting a 4 cylinder manual car in any time soon. The 4 cylinder manual is only available with the sport package, or so she told me, which comes with Brembo brakes and is the top 4 cylinder model.[Edited on April 9, 2009 at 5:18 PM. Reason : sticker and invoice are made up numbers anyway]
4/9/2009 5:17:40 PM
Saw one on the road today. Black on Black. It was quite nice looking actually...
4/11/2009 8:58:23 PM
thats an oxymoron

I'm aware that it's passé to praise BMW on TWW, however I do think this is a better example of how to advertise properly;
4/17/2009 3:33:57 PM
Fucking AWESOME
4/17/2009 3:39:23 PM
A little pompous perhaps, but yes I'm a fan.

That BMW checkmate ad is one of the greatest things I've recently seen.(And I actually generally like Audis better--but that is just brilliant.)
