i had a prob with the c-clip on the other side but is there one on the drivers?and beast mode is my specialty
3/12/2009 11:08:36 PM
The driver's side has a c-clip. Seriously, sometimes it won't come out for the love of God, and you need to put a big damn prybar on it. If you can use two, so the pressure isn't so much on one side, then it makes it easier. But there's not a whole lot of room for two sometimes. And if you're using anything less than 18-24" then you need to drop back five and punt. That lil shit ain't gonna do it. Hoss bar. Hell I've used 3' ones before.

I've got a 5 foot pry bar I use for this. If it has enough of a wedge shape you can hammer it in for more leverage(being careful not to hit the splines). Once it's caught, beat it from the side with a sledge hammer. On some transaxles, the "suggested" way is to remove the passenger side, slide a long round bar all the way through and beat it head on. I've never tried it.

They also make a slide hammer attachment for this...looks like a crow's foot.
3/13/2009 12:25:04 AM
a long prybar between the tranny and inner joint is about the only way to do it, and when you are putting it back in, you have to fully compress the joint, and smack it with a dead blow hammer

3/13/2009 1:58:19 PM
i think you can use a set of lock ring pliers on it, to get the clip out, but i could be wrong
3/13/2009 2:32:35 PM
how in the fuck would you go about doing that short of splitting the case halves?
3/13/2009 2:43:25 PM
yeah i would love to see how you do this.MAYBE criss angel could pull it off....
3/13/2009 6:03:17 PM
3/13/2009 6:24:25 PM
you would have a better shot of unscrewing a rod bolt/main cap through a drain hole then unhooking a c clip in a FWD differential.
3/13/2009 6:33:26 PM
^i think it might could be done, but i could be wrong.

$100 to the person who yanks this thing outim back under the car after months of rain i have decided my tools arent going to get this thing outive ripped the end off my pry bar and theres no access to the end of the axle from inside the trannythere's something in the way so i dont think trying to bang it out would workalso im fairly sure the two prybar trick isnt going to work unless the motor is out of the cari am about to just put the two pieces of this axle (the boot nearest the tranny is cut) back together and bolt everything up and drive it somewherePS when I spin the drivers side forward the passenger side spins backward...normal or gas+match time?[Edited on March 17, 2009 at 1:19 PM. pack that bitch with marine grade bearing grease+split repair boot+duct tape and ride.
3/17/2009 1:26:39 PM
lol the shaft wont go back together now so i cant even rig the fucking thing to drive it to a shopI give up, if anybody wants a camry for $1000 lemme know!
3/17/2009 2:29:00 PM
well if you can't put it together, that only leaves you with beasting that axle out.... Easy choice right?
3/17/2009 2:57:05 PM
yeah and that is usually the fun partbut not this time...
3/17/2009 3:05:55 PM
drop the tranny with the axle in it. then get psycho beast mode on it.
3/17/2009 3:11:41 PM
Dude, where are you located? I'm about tired of listening to you moan and whine about this thing.

^^ lol im tired of getting pissed off and bruised upim in garneri called loop road to see if they could help at all and the guy said "those camrys are the worst"he also said it couldnt be pryed out...the axle has to be pushed all the way in and then snapped out[Edited on March 17, 2009 at 3:37 PM. Reason : snapped out?]
3/17/2009 3:19:52 PM
snapped out....like yank it out?when I was doing my yota, I just pushed the axle as far into the transmission as I could by hand, then just would whack it out/pry it out as suddenly as I could to get some momentum to overcome the c-clipprobably took me a solid 30mins on the first axle.....second axle I understood the nature of the situation and just beasted that bastard out in 5mins[Edited on March 17, 2009 at 8:23 PM. 3/17/2009 8:16:50 PM
doesnt your car have like a mid shaft "carrier bearing"
3/17/2009 9:09:36 PM
the drivers side is stuck dipshit
3/17/2009 9:12:48 PM
3/17/2009 9:15:50 PM
hahahah god the stupidity. skim reading got me through high school, but not the internet
3/17/2009 9:21:38 PM
check with optmusprimer, he lives down that wayseriously all you need is like a 6' prybar, you can try driving a pickle fork in there, but you will probably damage the sealchances are, the clip is mangled and there is no other way to get it out but to bust it with brute force
3/17/2009 9:24:49 PM
I can give it a go if you're real desperate. If my 140lb in an astronaut suit gets that axle out you will owe me a case of beer. That would just be sad!!
