General tournament discussion and non-NC State games go here.Wanted to go ahead and make this in case people wanted to discuss if they were going or not.56th AnnualACC Men's Basketball TournamentMarch 12-15, 2009Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Ga.~The second game of a doubleheader will begin approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the first game, but no earlier than the scheduled starting time.Mainly wanted to go ahead and make this so I could bitch about how fucking stupid it is to have the game in the Georgia Dome. The majority of the seats SUCK. You can't see much of anything in a lot of those seats.http://www.gadome.com/events/images/ACC-seating-code.jpgAdditionally, will SOMEONE please explain to me how the fuck Duke and UNC get the sideline seats on a yearly basis? I've been to all the tournaments since at least 98 or 99 excluding Tampa and UNC has got the sideline seats for the majority of those. Excluding the last visit to Greensboro I think..? NC State has constantly got the corner or endzone seats. Maybe this just seems worse than it actually is but Duke and UNC again have the better seats. I just want to know how they assign the sections.I was going to go but the seating (our seats would be 23 rows up in the upper deck I think, the NC State section) is one of the reasons I'm not going. And of course the ACC has decided to return to Georgia in 2012. 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 are currently all Greensboro with one year being a possible option to go anywhere else and granting the tournament to Greensboro in 2016. ]

i agree, terrible choice of venue.

tourney discussionncsu ftw... discussion done

The ACC tournament should never leave NC IMO. We are the most central location, have the best venues available and the most teams in close proximity to our main venues (Charlotte and Greensboro). I almost hope we stay at the #10 slot instead of #8 or 9. We get a later game on Thursday and we matchup better with that side of the bracket.
3/3/2009 3:06:19 PM
I'll be there as long as we are
3/3/2009 3:09:45 PM
theres a black dude here in Greensboro that i see every so often with a red crown victoria that has spinners and hydraulics.he has seemingly permanently mounted 4 NCState flags to the windows as well as a wolfhead to the front hood of the car and a tail on the back.i go nuts whenever i see him.(thought that had a lot to do with the thread...)

whats State going to be? 9 or 10? depends on the Miami game right?

3/3/2009 3:59:06 PM
I've already got half-days off next Thursday and Friday. I imagine a lot of people will be putting in half a day too.
3/3/2009 3:59:32 PM
We'll probably play at 7 pm or 9:20 pm and lose in the first round. No need to take a half day.
3/3/2009 4:07:16 PM
I don't care about whether we lose or not. It's just tradition to take a half-day, go home fix a sandwich and watch some great basketball.
3/3/2009 4:16:50 PM
I'll be there - taking thursday and friday off work to sit in the Dome, get drunk, and watch hours of basketball. i'm 10 rows back on mezzanine level, so not too terrible, but definitely disappointed that state got jacked with our sections. went to 2 sessions of the Big East tourney in MSG last year and had seats 8 rows from the court - definitely gonna miss those seats next week!!
3/3/2009 4:38:58 PM
I may be attending the festivities.
3/3/2009 6:18:46 PM
My dad told me they were playing at The Omni.
3/3/2009 7:48:48 PM
how much do you think you could get tickets to day 2 and 3 outside the stadium? I want to go, but man, I don't have much money
3/3/2009 7:49:18 PM
wish i had the money to go. i've never been to an acct and it's something i've always wanted to attend.
3/3/2009 7:52:11 PM
We end up playing UVA, vt, gt, and duke, and we win the whole thing
3/3/2009 7:54:04 PM
The Georgia Dome seems like one of the worst domes for basketball, and many that have been there for games have expressed those same sentiments. The Hoosier Dome was apparently one of the best domes for basketball and actually had some pretty good sightlines based on what many have said. I mean it was still a dome, but one of the best apparently. I've heard that the Alamodome is also decent, for a dome that is. Superdome supposedly sucks.I hope there are a ton of empty seats when the Final Four is held in Detroit this year with that new configuration where they put the floor right in the middle of the dome. 3/3/2009 8:00:14 PM
why the fuck would you even bother with these seats
3/3/2009 10:59:04 PM
one of the final fours i went to was in tampa bay (tropicana field), seats were WAY up there, but luckily we were on the sideline
3/4/2009 8:15:14 AM
what's our chance of making NCAA? will 4 more W be enough? gotta win the whole thing?
3/6/2009 12:52:40 PM
i went to the georgia dome a few weeks ago and even the top seats aren't bad

What are the chances of there being an outdoor game in the future?Let's play a game at the DBAP.
3/6/2009 1:26:06 PM
Football domes converted for basketball all look awkward. You always have people sitting in permanent seats that go past the removable seats, and the view of the court must suck from back there.
3/6/2009 1:29:58 PM
^^ more like UNC vs. State at Bank of America Stadium! whoo! [Edited on March 6, 2009 at 1:32 PM. Reason : ^]

Play the national championship at the Rose Bowl if you're concerned about having enough seats, I say.I want to see the title game played at good, historic venues. This year the regional finals should be:East: The PalestraSouth: Reynolds ColiseumMidwest: Hank Iba ArenaWest: Pauley PavillionFinal Four at Hinkle Fieldhouse

greensboro coliseum is ugly nowdays. putrid teal seats, way too many seats for any event except the ACC tournament, bad location. i miss the GC before the renovation when they had actual ceiling tiles on the ceiling.best old pic i could find:[Edited on March 6, 2009 at 5:47 PM. Reason : ,]

So we can still win today and be the #10 seed right? And even if we win + VA tech + Maryland loss we don't win the tie breaker so we'd get the 9th seed? In that case I hope we win and end up with the 10th seed Then again... If Duke beats unc-ch on Sunday unc-ch still gets the #1 seed? This is all confusing but I'd rather play duke on friday if we win on thursday...
3/7/2009 10:04:21 AM
Ok so Tony Haynes just said, if we win we are 9 seed, if we lose we are 10 seed.
3/7/2009 11:37:42 AM
lets just win todayand pray we win our first round gamewhoever the fuck we play afterwards we'll worry about if we get there. And, I'd rather play UNC sooner in the tournament rather than later, anyway.
3/7/2009 11:43:52 AM
best I can foresee we would need to beat BC, Duke, Wake, and then UNC to win this thing[Edited on March 7, 2009 at 2:10 PM. Reason : sorry... MD or VT not BC]
3/7/2009 2:09:53 PM
^lmao, so we need to beat the three best teams in the ACC?? how does that work
3/7/2009 2:11:14 PM
If the standings go UNC, Duke, Wake, etc.we play the #7 team in the 7/10 gamethe winner of that game plays the #2 team - ie Dukethe winner of the Duke game would play the winner of the #3 vs 6/11 (#3 likely Wake)the winner of that game is in the finals likely vs #1 UNC
3/7/2009 2:13:48 PM
If Duke loses to UNC and Wake beats Clemson, then Wake is 2 seed. Which would be great for us.
3/7/2009 2:15:20 PM
^so then you would swap the order we play Duke & wake in.. assuming the higher seed always wins
3/7/2009 2:16:35 PM
Yay not in unc side of bracket
3/7/2009 2:17:49 PM
god i hope we get to play Maryland

3/7/2009 2:56:24 PM
Ah, good stuff.I can't root for UNC though, even if it means we have to play them sooner in the ACCT.
3/7/2009 3:02:05 PM
^^ 1) maryland lostI can never root for UNCand... were prob not going to the NIT Hypothetically, if we win 2 games in the ACCT, what are our chances... though I'm not banking on that one bit.
3/8/2009 12:06:39 AM
Don't we just need one more win to make the NIT?
3/8/2009 12:29:35 AM
^if that's a serious question, there's no win requirement to get into the NIT. But I'd say right now we need a couple more wins.[Edited on March 8, 2009 at 12:54 AM. Reason : actually probably like 3 wins, since we're in 10th..]
3/8/2009 12:51:17 AM
set em uphopefully some of our recruits and signed guys can watch some games
