2/26/2009 10:43:46 AM
i wonder how long it took to detail.
2/26/2009 10:54:16 AM
not quite the baddest tow truck ever.also, what do they do when one of those huge mining dump trucks breaks down? Fix it where it broke?
2/26/2009 11:25:28 AM
tow tanks don't count
2/26/2009 11:27:00 AM
Duke, about huge mining dump trucks...they probably DO either fix it where it broke or pull it with another one back to the shop.I think a lot of them are diesel-electric or diesel-hydraulic.BTW, that's a monster. I dunno what good it would do except in the event of bad wrecks in mountainous regions or off of bridges. I know a couple of the guys around here have swivels...Deans does, I know. I forget if theirs is a Jerr-Dan or a Challenger. Danco also makes one; has for years.[Edited on February 26, 2009 at 12:28 PM. Reason : blahblah]

2/26/2009 12:36:05 PM
Do you have to be some sort of super asshole to drive it?
2/26/2009 12:37:45 PM
nah, the ones that drive these are ok because they only come out when you need them
2/26/2009 12:46:04 PM
Not everybody in the recovery business is an asshole. But you gotta have a thick skin a lot of the time. The contract tow companies who do a lot of illegally parked cars for complexes do employ a lot of assholes though. They are also pretty assholey. Have to be to demand the kind of payoff they demand. Nice folks couldn't pull it off.I remember when I ran highway patrol/sheriff/police rotation calls, sometimes you'd run into a belligerent asshole who didn't want to pay your fee for towing and storage, but...hey, we had the car, and we had invested our time and effort in the tow. The prices are fixed by the state, and everybody pays the same thing. If it's immovable, wrecked, or you just got picked up for a DUI or other crime, then it has to be removed from the roadside...and the cops authorize and document it.Not real easy money...and some of the recoveries are BAD...especially if a fatality occurred. Gotta have a strong stomach.

its a crane with a wheel liftseriously though, why? 60 tons are overkill heel very few otr trucks fully loaded are over 50 tons, and even thats illegal as hell without expensive permit, so what the hell would you need that short of a reach and a high load capacity for?hell, i've watched a 60 ton rotator completely lift a cement truck with 10 yards on board up and back onto the road

2/28/2009 12:38:06 PM
i was thinking that could be a possibility but how the hell would you get it out there to the train?
