i picked up a new laptop for one of our district managers and noticed that the HP has a USB/eSATA combo port (in that, you can plug either into it)...i don't know if you can see it very well in the picture below, but i think it's pure genius...i'm insanely jealous, mostly because i'd frequently have to reimage drives and having it connected via eSATA would be much faster than USB (i know this for a fact)will this ever become standard? anyway, free thread

are they not standard? Maybe i've just beein shopping in the higher end laptop market this past month but most of the ones that i've narrowed down to purchasing have this.

they're far from standard, i would say...that laptop was only $800 which, i think, falls into the "most common" category...it was purchased a pre-configured system from best buy*shrug*

the hp i got on black friday for $500 has one tooi haven't used esata on it yet but i like the optionalthough firewire would be nice too; mine doesn't have that.
