they've delayed it by a week this year due to a national craft brewers conference

tickets go on sale to the public on 3/24 at restaurants/bars around the triangle and go on sale on-line on 3/30

tickets are $40

SO excited they moved it back a week since the past 2 years its been on the same day as the NFL Draft

HAPPY DRINKING

it seemed like a better deal when it used to be $25. I've gotten comp tickets the last 5 years and was kind of oblivious to the cost of the tickets. $40 seems kind of steep, but I guess that's about what a heavy bar tab would be for me.

I think I'm going to hold out for the one in Durham in the fall.

The Durham Ale House is sold out. I am not sure why it isn't updated.

[Edited on March 24, 2009 at 10:37 PM. Reason : And I think also the Lonerider Brewing Co. ]

i got 7 tickets... 5 at first, and then my friend's wife called and said the ale house she was at ran out right before she got to the front, so they let me get 2 more. (the line had cleared out.)

I'm attending the festival. I could have volunteered. You do get a good amount of beer volunteering too... i'd just rather attend.

looks like it'll be in the low to mid 80's with a chance of rain

i could go for cooler temps, but after about 5 minutes of being in there i'm sure i won't complain

Hoping it doesn't rain. The website put out the program that lists what booth each brewery is located as well as what beers they are bringing. Get your lists and pretzel necklaces ready.

^ they have always stopped pouring 10 min before the end of the session (for crowd control purposes)

^The whole point is that since they say it ends at 4, they could and should keep pouring until 4 and actually end it at 4:10...

That was the best thing ever! This was my first year, I'll not miss another one. I did learn a lot though, foolishly I thought we could get there at 11:50 and be in at 12...
Also, pretzel necklaces FTW
I'll also bring in some grocery bags or something in my pocket, I'm convinced the lack of free bags was a ploy to sell more stuff, the only way you can get a bag is to buy something.
Carolina ale house $10 off cards FTW as well

They have more to do than just get people out between sessions...
A few examples:
Distribute beer for 2nd session, distribute a new rounds of ice,
Switch out most of the volunteers
(Even if they're doing both sessions they still have to check out).

Reality is that volunteers are supposed to pull the beer off the tables 10 min prior & pouring actually ceases @ 10. I didnt volunteer for this one, so I don't know if they changed it. Drunk looters do attempt to take the beer on the tables with them as they leave, and if it were allowed to happen then the city would shut down the whole festival.

Had a great time. I was pretty dilligent about going around and sampling all the different kinds of beer until I hit the Highland tent. After that, I just dropped anchor and got retarded. I love that beer.

I somehow managed to lose my wallet and one flipflop during the festival. The wallet magically reappeared at Raleigh Times, though I'm sure I never went in there. The flipflop remains at large.
