this gravy train left the station earlier this weekand there's no point to get on board now
2/21/2009 9:37:48 PM
did i miss an earlier thread?
2/21/2009 9:47:05 PM
I think what he's saying in his own cryptic way is that the best time to make this thread would have been last week.I'll play along tho. I sincerely doubt the cartoonist was advocating assassination of Obama. He was trying to draw a parallel between the chimp incident and the stimulus. But he failed miserably. And no one at the Post had any common sense to say "Hey, this may look bad."
2/21/2009 9:56:53 PM
well it looks like the cartoon was posted on wednesday and i didn't see a thread about it since then.

I don't really get the comic to be honest. Then again I haven't paid much attention to the news the past week or two.
2/22/2009 4:14:21 AM
message_topic.aspx?topic=558906So, are we having two threads on this, or what?
2/22/2009 12:13:24 PM
oh my fucking god. black people are fucking seriously protesting this cartoon. From my interpretation i interpreted is implying the stimulus bill is so dumb a "monkey put it together" or that congress is "as dumb as monkies" jumping around spending money.but NOapparently black people think they look like monkeys since they took specific offense to this cartoon.the NY Post must have some secret hidden agenda against black people. I'm so damn tired of people taking shit out of context especially when it comes to racial issues. This shit was not racist until the NAACP made it so; just like the protest against those women wearing the hoop ball dresses in Alabama. OH LOOK SOUTHERN WHITE GIRLs SUPPORTING SLAVERY BY WEARING DRESSES THAT WOMEN WORE BEFORE SLAVERY ENDED eekk http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-217887
2/22/2009 4:11:35 PM
Let's get Jesse Jackson's take on this. He's the emperor of black people, right?
2/22/2009 4:17:23 PM
No you're thinking of Al Sharpton.
2/22/2009 4:24:59 PM
2/22/2009 5:05:57 PM
i thought the cartoonist was trying to recall the infinite monkey theorem until i heard what al and jesse dreamed up
2/22/2009 5:15:27 PM
I think these protests and rallies spark as well as increase racism along with racial tension. So in effect these marches on "racial topics" just exasperate the problem.Noose Bandit from last year anyone?
2/22/2009 5:18:04 PM
i looked at this guys other cartoons and he always writes the persons name on the body of the character. so there ya go[Edited on February 22, 2009 at 6:08 PM. Reason : also HUR that bush cartoon is hilariously bad. ]
2/22/2009 6:07:25 PM
2/22/2009 6:09:56 PM
Does nobody watch the news? It was obvious what the comic was about if people had been paying attention the past week. (Here a hint, the comic has zero to do with obama or congress, perhaps there was an actual chimp shot this week by the police which made more news than obama's signing of the stim bill).
2/22/2009 6:10:29 PM
has Obama said anything?he just needs to come out and say "seriously guys shut the fuck up"
2/22/2009 6:18:01 PM
2/22/2009 7:31:35 PM
jesus, HUR's the goddamn white al sharpton when it comes to complaining about al sharpton, the NAACP, and black folks.give it a fucking rest, man.[Edited on February 22, 2009 at 7:38 PM. Reason : .]
2/22/2009 7:37:58 PM
ya people hate preachy shit HURand assumptions
2/23/2009 12:18:49 AM
a black man will never be president. so therefore they have every right to take everything as racist and society trying to hold them down......oh wait...that is so last year.
2/23/2009 2:31:35 AM
hur becomes a goddamned retard when it comes to anything about black folks.
2/23/2009 2:54:13 AM

every time something like this happens I feel bad for Asian.they just take it
2/23/2009 10:41:34 AM
I'm normally one to point out the stupidity of playing the race card when it doesn't apply...but this cartoon was pretty insensitive.
2/23/2009 11:47:49 AM
2/23/2009 11:54:15 AM
considering the historical portrayal of african americans as monkeys, yes it is insensitive.
2/23/2009 12:06:45 PM
LOL... No, it's not.Racism was not intended. AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS.
2/23/2009 12:46:35 PM
what about the portrayal of George Bush as a monkey. What if this cartoonist was actually black?[Edited on February 23, 2009 at 1:19 PM. Reason : l]
2/23/2009 1:19:18 PM
how can we move forward past all the things that happened in the past... if we keep using the past as a reason to slap racism on everything today?
2/23/2009 1:20:08 PM
^Exactly.I posted this in the other thread. If you haven't seen it, you might should watch it:http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/103581/
2/23/2009 1:32:10 PM
first off HUR you're stupid. The answer to you question is obvious.also the past means everything. We live in a world where 95% of the people on the planet worship things invented thousands of years ago and live in a country that swears by an old piece of paper.
2/23/2009 1:41:59 PM
no way jose you are stupid poo poo pants. your mama's is like the community bicycle everyone gets a ride! Nice 6th grade response dick wad

This cartoon reflects more on the wisdom of the editorial board than it does the cartoonist. If the editors of the NY Post didn't realize that this editorial cartoon could spark the controversy that it did, then perhaps they need some fresh blood. If they did realize that the cartoon would cause the controversy and decided to run with it anyways... well... that's an interesting issue in and of itself.
2/23/2009 6:28:33 PM
2/23/2009 7:03:17 PM
well, the chimp probably had more sense than the idiots who wrote the porkulus bill, so I guess it's accurate. No person was mentioned, and Obama surely didn't write the bill, he just attached his name to it and promoted it (which will bite him in the ass really hard). This is just race-baiting and grandstanding by Sharpton, and the folks in the media are contributing to it by giving the dumbass a platform to speak from.
2/23/2009 7:09:55 PM
2/23/2009 7:45:14 PM
I thought this shit would stop when Obama became president; I guess i was wrong.
2/23/2009 9:05:23 PM
Too many people make too much money off of keeping racial stuff stirred up, from the media to race-baiters like Sharpton.
2/23/2009 9:19:05 PM
keeps the white racists happy, toobecause they can't wait to hold sharpton and jackson up as an example of all black-kind[Edited on February 23, 2009 at 9:29 PM. Reason : it's a giant love fest and you people crave it and you know it]

2/23/2009 11:39:23 PM
2/23/2009 11:50:37 PM
yes, everyone knows there was a real life chimp shot. let's move on from that now.
2/24/2009 12:45:15 AM
The critics of this comic are almost certainly reaching when they make claims of racism.Still, small wonder that newspapers are dying when their editors can't figure out that having a black man represented by a dead monkey is a bad idea.
