I know there have been references to it made on here, just looking for anyone that did it themselves.im at that point now where exercise and fairly good dieting wont get me any further of a body fat % lower.interested in if it worked for you or if you hated it...thanks

From what I've read/learned in class, it's pretty much a super-strict version of Atkins. It works, but you'll go into ketosis. You'll be pretty tired at first while your body adjusts to running on ketones. Make sure you're taking a multivitamin so you don't get any nutrient deficiencies. It's not something I would recommend for permanent fat loss, but if you're looking to do it temporarily then go for it. You may also want to have a specialist look at your workout plan and diet to see if you could modify your regimen before trying the diet. Good luck.

I wouldn't do this without advice from a doctor.

Why? Most docs don't really have a solid grasp of nutrition....

yea i have everyone of Lyles books, that would be the ones I would follow on the dietI was just wondering how much success anyone has had one itbegonias what do you suggest then as a permanent fat loss plan?and yes, i was doing crossfit but adapted over to a varied form of it...im doing my own lifts and mixing in some of their workouts as well...its more suited to what I want to shape my body and how/where I want to be stronger.I just cannot for the life of me shake these last few %'s and wondered if this may work.

I plateaued for 3 months at 205lbs before I picked up a strict CKD plan...took me a month of research/planning before I began it and I lost 3%(18% down to 14.5%) in 1.5 months and 17 lbs...currently 188...still on a cut but not on keto...I now rotate between 1 month CKD -500 cal defecit and 1 month 12F/44C/44P -500 cal defecit...i'd be more than happy to explain my CKD plan further if interestedI'm gonna be doing the V-diet just to see if I have the willpower starting Mar 15thi've also got several of lyle mcdonalds pdfs including U2.0 so if you want some good reads about human/exercise/diet physiology I'd be happy to send em your way

i love pissing ketones....my body gets into a craving for sustenance rather than sugar...when I eat carbs, I get sugar cravings all the time....while on keto my body is just like....give me whatever...I too feel fatigued but I'm convinced it's more of a psychological thing than physical, though when you are truly glycogen depleted, you DO feel it

Personally, I wouldn't go on any diet or eating plan that I couldn't sustain for an extended period, and I know I could never do a low carb diet for more than... well, a day. haha. I'm not saying "don't do it!" by any means. It certainly does work.I would look at your routine and try modifying that first. Look at intensity, weight, time, method, exercises, etc. For example, you could alternate CF with another HIIT program or switch up your regime all together. Then look at your diet. Try recalculating your calorie requirements, changing the portions/frequency of meals, or calorie-cycling. And make sure you're eating ENOUGH. If that doesn't work (or if you just don't want to do that), then go ahead and try the ketogenic diet. Keep us updated on your progress.

Begonias, for body recomp, while both training plan and diet are important, diet trumps training in terms of impact. Assuming he is healthy (and in some cases for some diseases a keto diet is Rxed (epilepsy)) a keto diet is nothing horrible (the V-diet on the other hand....).Don't kill his idea w/ an "omg I'm a "pt" (read bodypump or some shit instructor) and I...like...don't have teh will power for that ....so neither does he" mindset.

what's a v-diet?

http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_diet_mass/the_velocity_dietI'm gonna try it out just to see if I've got the willpowerI've lasted 2 months of a strict deficit CKD...most people bail on the V-diet after the first real meal daymy CKD plans last a month and only involve 3 refeeds, and I keep those very clean rather than the first month when I'd eat a pizza for a refeed....I ate an entire large lily's cheese pizza in 1 sitting for my first ever refeed, I fell asleep within 15 minutes and was late to work because of the massive insulin spike....was so worth it
2/19/2009 1:15:41 PM
pizza has too much fat to be used as part of a proper refeed...

lots of people like the v-diet. and sounds like fun to try, but i'm a fan of being reasonable and just eat basically whatever i want and as much as i want as long as it doesn't make me gain body fat (read carbs though i have wrongly given into non-processed/simple carbohydrates just go give me plenty of options).to point out ketosis IS NOT ketoacidosis. the ketone levels are 20x higher in ketoacidosis. the "ketosis" from a ketogenic diet is your body getting back to it's biologically intended normal fat metabolism. when you eat carbs you introduce insulin, which disrupts your normal fat metabolism state and make you store body fat.there's no reason your body wants to hold onto fat unless you've got a rare genetic disorder so you ditch the carbs and boo yah - lean! i may well call my first fad diet that.
