It is a 4wd extended cab pickup with a good amount of rust on the frame and just about everything on the underside. How much rust is too much? Above the left rear wheel there is a half dollar sized hole rusted out into the frame. How big of a deal is this?I thought I got a good deal on it, but now I'm not so sure. Its got 168K on it and runs fine. I think I might just sell it What do you think something like this is worth? Btw if anyone can do a carfax on it for me i would appreciate it. VIN is 4TAVN13D7RZ283285

Google Tacoma Rust Buyback. Toyota was buying them back at 1.5 times blue book value. A lot of people were buying rusted ones just to sell back to Toyota and make some money. As far as I can tell it applies to 1995-2000 models only, but it would still be worth a trip to the dealer to see if they can get yours covered.[Edited on February 12, 2009 at 6:30 PM. Reason : l]

The 3.0 isn't geared very well for on road usage, but has plenty of torque for mud and snow.1. Remove superfluous body panels2. Turn into offroad machine3. Profit!!

I'm surprised nobody has recommended getting something like a 10"x4"x1/4" plate welded over the hole. I mean, it's not perfect, but it's better than having a freaking hole in your chassis. It's bound to add a few years to it. For $2300 if you can get 4 years out of it and sell the engine/tranny that isn't half bad.Or hell, make a tube back half for the son of a bitch. You'd probably be the 8,769th person to do it, so it's not like it's uncharted territory.[Edited on February 13, 2009 at 9:49 AM. Reason : l]
