Alright, looks like I got tasked by them there SCCC folks to put up last meeting's minutes, and told me to post to TWW. Disregard if you're not interested. They're only minutes in the loose sense of the word, seeing as how no one actually recorded stuff. Anyways:Beginning of the meeting, we briefly hit on the issues we wanted to discuss during the meeting. Firstly, why the SORC hadn't recognized us an a student organization, despite having submitted our application six weeks or so ago. Also mentioned fees, printing out pamphlets and flyers, organizational fees, writing letters to congressmen, and creating a website.Once we did that, we went through each point in detail.SORC: Neither Daryl Johnson or the Campus Leaders had heard anything from the SORC office. Since we're not recognized yet, SCCC can't receive funds, or webspace for a website. Campus Leaders said they would go to the SORC office this week to sort things out, and in the meantime, any pamphlets or flyers would be printed using personal funds, and SCCC would reimburse members once fees came in.Website: Facebook sucks as a tool for running an organization, especially since there is no emailing list. Members talked about using different alternative until we received webspace, including blogspace, etc. It was eventually decided that one of the members would use their personal NCSU webspace temporarily, and files would be transferred to the permenant website later.Fees: Members voted on a 5 dollar per semester fee, to be used for SCCC publications. Special event fees would still be paid by members at a per-event basis.Public Relations Chair: Members voted out Rob Sherwood as the Public Relations Chair, because he wasn't able to make meetings. Daryl Johnson was votes as the new Public Relations Chair.Brickyard: Decided to try and obtain a permit to distribute pamphlets this Friday in the brickyard. Public Relations Chair said he owuld take care of application. Took up a list of members willing to volunteer time on Friday, and asked each member to print 30 pamphlets from the national SCCC website.Letters to Congressmen: Briefly discussed getting members to start writing to congressmen, but members decided it would be best to draft up a bill to submit with the letters first, to give congressmen guidance. Some debate as to whether SCCC should include pocketknives and/or other educational institutes in the bill. As SCCC does not take a stance on anything but concealed carry on college campuses, it was decided to not attemt addittional inclusions. Campus Leaders will consult with Pre-Law members, in order to draft up a bill.Just for Kicks: Discussed possible fun event for members to engage in. Eventually decided on putt-putt, followed possibly by a BBQ. No date/time was settled on, due to the need to book a group.Media: Reporter Jay Price from the N&O was there, asking for a volunteer for him to shadow in order to ask fellow student how they felt about the empty holster protest. Members present did not volunteer, but an email was sent to other members, and Mr. Price was invited to meet us in the Brick yard on Friday. Photographers from the Technician were also there, and Campus Leaders may be contacted for follow-up questions.Next Meeting: Members voted to have next meeting, and subsequent meetings, at I <3 NY Pizza, due to its location, and the ability to carry concealed on the premises. That's pretty much it. Folks who were there, if I missed something, lemme know.

I hate SORC...you pretty much have to go in and demand they do it. they have been dragging their asses all year with shit, esp since they moved it all online (which sucks more).as far as email, a suggestion is listserv on campus. Its free, takes about a day to set up. http://lists.ncsu.edu/You can set it up for only NCSU addresses or external addresses as well.
