Ok, I've been having some issues with being kicked off of my wireless pretty frequently. Last night I updated the router firmware (wrt54g). Went fine, but didn't fix the issue. So this morning I grabbed an extra sb5120 (the same type of modem I was previously using) and updated the drivers. As soon as the wizard finished, I was disconnected from the wireless, and now I am only able to connect every few minutes for about 10 seconds before it kicks me off (same deal for my other laptop). Wired still works fine, and oddly enough, when I plug into the wired ethernet connection, the wireless connects as well, on both computers.Help?

Check the wireless LAN setting and such to see if there's anything different in there? Maybe the update defaulted some of your options to something that would cause the router to require a wired PC to be attached.

reset router completely, go with all default options, report back

I have another thread on this page about pretty much the same problem on my WRT54G2. For me though, the wired connection would drop, but my wireless stayed working. I have just recently reset my router and have had no issues. I'm about to go test out the ps3 and see if I can stream the hockey game.on that note, isnt this pretty bad?[Edited on February 5, 2009 at 10:25 PM. Reason : nml']

Try other speedtest servers to rule out connectivity problems with that server. Try at different times of the day.
