i'll be there.i wasn't too upset about missing last year's due to my sister's wedding, the lineup last year kinda suckedthis is more up my alley
2/2/2009 9:41:11 PM
coheed and cambria? wtf
2/2/2009 9:56:42 PM
interesting lineup, does this mean phish gets saturday and sunday nights or does the boss get in there for one of those instead of friday
2/2/2009 9:59:16 PM
there's a lot of bands i'd like to see, but i don't know if this is enough to get me back on the farm this year. i'm sure it'll be a conflict nightmare too.
2/2/2009 10:18:13 PM
I'VE BEEN DYING TO SEE THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS SINCE FOREVER.
2/2/2009 10:21:21 PM
i'm really curious as to where they're going to fit nine inch nails ini mean, you cant have them play prior (or after really) to phish or springsteenmaybe which stage sunday?idk[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 11:24 PM. Reason : e]

when is this shit, june ?cool yeah I can gowhats the general weed policy these daysI haven't been since like 2004, and then it was basically like 'smoke em if you got em'I don't want to get pinched for appreciating nature
2/2/2009 11:31:36 PM
^ there may be a slightly higher risk of getting caught since there were 70 arrests last year, but the odds are in your favor. i never saw a cop inside centeroo, and we had no problems in tent only. it's not nearly as bad as people like to make it out to be these days.
2/2/2009 11:36:52 PM
Official Lineup Announced:http://bonnaroo.com/news/2009/02/02/bonnaroo-2009-lineup.aspxLooks to be the same as above. More artists to come.

i can't believe they're doing another DVD after what happened with last year's. you had the opportunity to preorder one with your ticket just like 2009's, and they were supposed to be sent out in time for christmas. i just got mine last thursday. what really sucks is i paid for mine in december and still got it before people i know who ordered one last february. hopefully they'll avoid whatever it was that caused such a ridiculous delay.[Edited on February 3, 2009 at 1:04 AM. usually i judge these festivals if it comes out to about $10-15 per band i would actually want to see so lets see, tickets are about $250 + 43fees = lets just round up to $300. there are not 30 bands i would get to see/want to see. Although Animal Collective, Of Montreal, Andrew Bird, and Grizzly Bear are all very hard to pass up.when did the tickets get so high, i feel like i paid $120 a few years back. they really feel like the quality has doubled???
2/3/2009 8:28:48 AM
2/3/2009 10:36:10 AM
nice. i'm oohing and ahhing over this lineup
2/3/2009 11:33:00 AM
if only i had the big bucks.but a lot of these acts are better suited for small clubs.i can't imagine the bon iver performance translates well to a huge festival crowd.
2/3/2009 11:52:17 AM
i personally thought they were horribly suited for opening up for wilco at koka booth.BUT, they will likely play on a small side stage, so it'd be more like a small club atmosphere. those are almost always my favorite performances at these sorts of festivals anyway
2/3/2009 12:49:58 PM
if things work out i'll be at phish in knoxville on wednesday (06/10/09), then on to manchester thursday
2/3/2009 1:49:32 PM
2/3/2009 1:55:52 PM
anyone have any good stories to share? never been to bonnaroo but after i saw all that kanye sucks kanye sucks happen i became more interested in going.
2/3/2009 2:16:15 PM
think this might be the year i return to the 'roo.if only umphrey's mcgee was on the initial line-up.
2/3/2009 2:57:57 PM
and the scalping on ebay begins...lol
2/3/2009 3:21:16 PM
2/3/2009 4:08:05 PM
why is Coheed & Cambria on that list? not only will they be the worst band there, they are one of the worst bands of all timeotherwise, it's a pretty good lineup.. if they add a few more electronic artists/dj's i will probably go
2/3/2009 4:19:44 PM
^ yeah no kidding. i'm sure they just got coheed for diversity purposes. haven't they always been more of a warped tour kind of band? i'm sure more electronic artists/dj's will be added. i think they added tiesto a few weeks after the initial lineup came out last year.
2/3/2009 5:17:16 PM
phish, the boss, moe, galactic, bela, del mccoury, dave grisman Q, merle haggard, govt mule, ben harperand then there's the rest
2/3/2009 5:26:44 PM
tickets + food (whether you bring your own or buy there) + gas + "goodies" + alcohol + any other supplies you need like tents that you havent already boughtnot worth it to me, like i said, it has just ballooned from $100 to $300 in less than a decade and yet the talent doesn't sound any bigger than the last couple of years. It was cheap for Bob Dylan and Dave Matthews and The Dead.id rather they have lower priced talent and more of it and make it reasonable.
2/3/2009 7:27:07 PM
2/4/2009 4:26:43 PM
i'd like to be in the front row of a coheed show with a sign that says "getty lee called. he wants his voice back."
2/4/2009 5:22:40 PM
gah, this festival always has a few bands I enjoy seeing live, but most the bands I want to see are better in a smaller setting and the price is just ridiculous for the groups I want to see. After attending a handful of different types of festivals back, I have left underwhelmed every time, even when getting to see a lot of bands I really loved. I've decided that most festivals just arent that fun of an environment for me to see bands I like live in./shrugoh and PS, I may not be a coheed fan myself but they are certainly not even the worst band in that lineup.[Edited on February 4, 2009 at 5:40 PM. Reason : ]
2/4/2009 5:37:52 PM
^ i think it'd be kind of hard to be underwhelmed by bonnaroo just because there's so much to do and see while you're there. then again, this is coming from someone who could've left the festival after my morning jacket's show and been completely satisfied.
2/4/2009 5:45:55 PM
yea i know they are adding into the cost the experience of all the other stuff there. i guess I was mainly referring to the music. Going to see a band I love at tremont or the cradle or something has always destroyed anything I've seen at a festival or other huge show, even being in a good spot. Whether it is subconscious or whatever else causes it thats just how its been for me.
2/4/2009 5:49:40 PM
probably seeing phish 7 times this year(so far)....and the rest do not 300 bucks and 4 days of camping do it for me.[Edited on February 4, 2009 at 5:50 PM. Reason : not to mention, prolly hitting lolla again.]
2/4/2009 5:50:19 PM
2/4/2009 5:52:31 PM
actually the best show i ever seen was at Bonnaroo, My Morning Jacket right after Modest Mouse (i have the official setlist from the stage )their hair is long and blowing in the wind which is picking up steadily as the sky is about to open up like never beforeincredible
2/4/2009 6:16:29 PM
^ the best show i have ever seen was my morning jacket at bonnaroo last year. they started at midnight. it started raining shortly after. the harder they'd play, the harder it rained. they took a break for 10 or 15 minutes at 2am. the rain also took a break for 10 or 15 minutes at 2am. they came back out. the rain came back out. they continued to control the weather until 4am. it was the greatest thing i have ever experienced. i thought they deserved a headlining spot this year after that. maybe in 2010...[Edited on February 4, 2009 at 6:21 PM. 2/4/2009 6:20:07 PM
that sounds like what i saw except it was about 4pm if i remember correctly whatever year this was (2004?) and the sky was absolutely grey, it looked as if a tornado was about to hit
2/4/2009 6:21:39 PM
^^ it wasn't raining at all, you were tripping peyote

i really, really want to go. i don't think i've ever wanted to go so bad as i do this year. and it is definitely not even for phish or the beastie boys, etc. though i am kinda pumped for david byrne and wilco but but i want to gooooo. sigh. i've never been and i really want to go.
2/8/2009 6:03:40 PM
hey do you want to go? ive got a free ticketwow, how mean would that be if someone actually asked you that as a joke? jerks
2/8/2009 6:08:04 PM
my boyfriend won free tickets last year but sold them because the money sounded better i guess. and we couldn't go. but i feel like i probably should have because who wins free tickets and then doesn't use them. doh.
2/8/2009 6:16:44 PM
i'd have sold last years ticket tooto be honest
2/8/2009 6:28:29 PM
yea that is what i heard. and the lineup didn't look that great, but still...anyway. want to go this year. did you buy your ticket already?
2/8/2009 6:32:07 PM
