thanks to the mwave.com pricing mistake, i can get the ASUS WL-500W for $44 AR + shipping (so i'm assuming around $50)...it comes with 2 USB ports and has 32mb RAM and 8mb flashmy parents need a new wireless router anyway, so i'll probably give them my buffalo running tomato and put DD-WRT on this one (since the tomato folks are being insanely slow in their N support)sooooo, my question is this: since i'm upgrading to N-wireless, should i also upgrade to gigabit? i do a significant amount of network data transfer, but none of my units have gigabit ethernet cards (though both of the laptops that'll be on the network have N-wireless)$50 was pretty much my max (since i was originally just going to get this for my parents directly instead of for myself), but i don't see gigabit/N wireless routers coming down any time soon...should i wait it out and hope to come across something awesome, or is this by far the best deal i'll find for an N router in the near future?

obviously if you're not hardwiring your comps or if they don't have gigabit nics (how old are your computers anyway?) then gigabit is useless. If it were me, I know i'd jump on a cheapish gigabit router if I had the chance.

one is a laptop with a bum screen that i use for various projects (mostly as a file server, though) and the other is my HTPC...the laptop is pretty old, but powerful enough to do what i want, and the HTPC is probably about a year (the integrated NIC is all i use, and it's not gigabit)yeah, right now it doesn't do me any good...but i wasn't sure whether it was worth the premium at this moment, for use in the future...for $50, i'm having a hard time finding something better than the ASUS, which is really only better than my buffalo because it's wireless N and has 2 USB ports

depends on the computers

it's sounding more and more like it'll make no difference now (obviously) and probably not a whole lot in the immediate future...so i think i'll passthxu
