I just got an acceptance letter for Grad School at NCSU! I'm waiting until all the offers are on the table to make a decision, but it looks like I may be taking classes at NCSU again next year.

what do people do when taking grad classes while working (like 1 class a semester)? when do you need to apply and do you need to take GRE before getting in?
2/3/2009 8:45:15 PM
getting in is easy

i'll pass on the words of wisdom i received:

Yeah... I gave grad school a shot. Didn't work because I couldn't pay the bills and keep health insurance by going to class full time cause I didn't have enough time to sleep at night, and that was working part time. It's tough. Full time grad school is a full time job by itself. Best of luck to you.

Well I graduated from NCSU (undergrad) in 2006, and I'll be starting grad school in 2009 either at NCSU or elsewhere depending on where I'm accepted & what if any monetary aid comes my way - I don't have any delusions here, so I've had the grad school thing in mind for a while and been preparing for it financially.I don't remember the requirements Specter, it may vary by program, but my time line was do the GRE in July, turn in my applications in around October, and started hearing back from programs at the end of Jan.I know my specific grad program does have a part time option where you can do less classes and extend the 2 year program to like 3 to 5 years for this Masters degree (some schools even had evening only classes set up for professionals who are adding this degree), but I'm aiming for taking enough loans out to cover it full time, and then working my way out of debt again possibly with a part time job. Its what I did for undergrad, so I know I'm already employable enough to do it again even without this extra degree.

Still waiting to hear back from NCSU.....

I'm just glad I didn't have to take the GRE. I know my mathematics would be high and look good, but any english related part I felt like would of really drove down my chances. Thank you all.

Yay! It's good to have worked hard enough for schools to actually offer you something when you apply to their graduate school. Now you can ride out this economic shitstorm and ride out of college on a wave of bullshit and snag a decent job.

nows the time to be in school.

i'm taking one (1) grad class and associated lab per quarter at UW and it's a bitch just keeping that up. i'm working full time too, but still.it's a lot different than undergrad, you really have to put forth a lot of effort studying outside class.

I, too, was accepted to Analytics.
