"Country music

In early 2008, Rucker signed to Capitol Records Nashville as the beginning of a career in country music. His first solo single, "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" (which he co-wrote with Clay Mills) debuted at #51 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts for the week of May 3, 2008. It is the first single from his second album, Learn to Live, which was produced by Frank Rogers.[3] Rucker also made his Grand Ole Opry debut in July 2008.[4]

"Don't Think I Don't Think About It" reached Top 20 on the country charts in July 2008, making him the first African-American singer to reach Top 20 on the country charts since Charley Pride in 1988.[5] The single reached Number One in September,[6] making Rucker the first solo African American artist to chart a Number One country hit since Pride's "Night Games" in 1983.[7] Following "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" was Rucker's second solo single, "It Won't Be Like This for Long", which has also reached Top 20."

I just heard one of song at the top of a country count down tonight. It seems he's lost some of that soulful bass, though, and the lyrics are about as exciting as 'there's a tear in my beer'. Still a good voice though.

Rock Facts Rock Facts Rock Facts

Cracked Rear View was the first album I ever bought. Fifteen years later, I still think it was a good purchase.

^I actually developed a loathing for the band because radio stations played songs off that album ad nauseum back in the day. I didn't need to buy the album when it came out, I just needed to hit "scan" on the radio two or three times. Don't need the album 15 years later, as the songs have been permanently scorched into my brain.

At least their songs never got as bad as the "Look at this photograph..." song. That song make Hulk smash until he find radio dial.

+1

I admit, I still pop it in the CD player every now and then. Fairweather Johnson too, though it's nowhere near the album that CRV is.
