I'm 26 and play indoor soccer goalie weekly and the aches and pains seem to be going up as the seasons go by, especially in the ankles and knees. I was wondering if anyone takes some sort of Aleve or Advil for aches and pains, and if so, how much they take and how long they've done it. Passing on any info you received from your doc would be great as well. Thanks for the input.

i'd recommend some sort of brace - have you gone to a doctor or physical therapist or something along those linesi'm 26 and play soccer weekly as well and other than being tired afterwards and having some minor soreness the following day depending on how phsyical it got it's never been to the point to where i've considered taking pain relievergranted currently i'm playing outdoor 8v8 - but up until last year i was playing indoor up in wake forest at the factory and didn't have trouble then either ]]

yeah it's definitely being goalie that adds the majority of the stress on the knees/ankles

supplements help me. of course it could be mental. glucosamine and condroitin.advil 400mg.i wear orthotics and a knee brace. does wonders for me.[Edited on January 28, 2009 at 12:20 AM. Reason : asprin works well too, the enteric coated variety. one a day.]

36 years old. Went out and played baseball for the first time in a year last week. After 10-15 swings my hands started throbbing in pain. Never had this before.WTF is this? Arthritis? My hands still don't feel the same two weeks later.Fuck.

Some will roll their eyes, but ditch the sugars and grains in your diet and see if you notice a change (sans medicine) in a month. I have a friend who destroyed his knee and required surgery, and after every subsequent run, would have to ingest a lot of medicines to keep the swelling down. He went paleo and has been running pain-free for five years now.I've been doing it for over a year and have never felt better. It's to the point now where a single slice of bread or cake throws me into such a funk that I actively avoid the stuff. Take generic ibuprofen--2 to 4 times the OTC recommended dosage (200 mg) as needed or four times a day...so 3200 mg per day max.Even the generic stuff gets expensive when you take this much so you gotta get your doc to write a script for it with a lot of refills. Make sure you refill it even if you haven't run out...you wanna get a good stash going and have insurance cover as much as possible.[Edited on October 7, 2014 at 1:20 AM. I took 2 Aleve every morning and sometimes and additional one at night for years. Now I take meloxicam (Mobic) 15mg daily, plus acetaminophen if needed. I have a bunch of joint pain though. Bracing helps A LOT, even just doing it overnight.I've taken Celebrex before. It is a miracle drug for joint pain, but it's also a tier 3, no generic type drug that insurance randomly decides it doesn't want to cover anymore. With insurance, it's like $300/month.This is a really awesome knee brace, btw.
