This will be my first Dave concert. I'm excited.I haven't bought concert tickets in about 9 months. Is this the norm now?Section LAWN, Row 9, Seat # 69Adult $30.50 Parking Fee $7.50 Ticket Fee $13.25 Charity Fee $2.00 TICKET TOTAL $53.25 I don't think I'll be buying any more concert tickets if this is the mark-up now. $30 ticket and $23 in "other fees" is absolutely ridiculous.
1/17/2009 9:51:31 PM
haha i havent seen the charity fee before but the ticket fee is prob the convenience charge. They still put it to you big time. I have heard that you can go to the box office and avoid many of the fees, but I don't know how true that is
1/17/2009 10:46:51 PM
$53 to sit in the lawnand see the same show they put on every yearwith the same band that always opens for them (more than likely anyways)but Dave Matthews is soooooo awesome that it's worth it!!
1/17/2009 11:30:58 PM
i've never seen them beforeand it's the avett bros opening for them
1/17/2009 11:35:57 PM
New album drops the week before, so I'm stoked. I might just get the ticket at the box office to save some of the costs. It'll be interesting to see their live show post-Roi. I've seen them a few times before at The Creek and they manage to put on a good show.
1/17/2009 11:49:12 PM
so does anyone else know if this is standard for concerts now? i bought them through live nation. last year's buffett tickets only had about $10 in extra fees.
1/17/2009 11:56:18 PM
i would have trolled the shit out of this thread 4 or 5 years agonow i'll just slowly shake my headi didn't realize there were still people going to their first dave showand yes, corporate show prices are absurdi get pissed now when i have to pay $15 for a show, mostly because i don't go see people you hear on g105 or whatever the hell radio station you kids listen to in raleigh these days
1/18/2009 1:00:48 AM
i'm lucky that in that i've only had to pay for one or two shows in the last 2 years and i've probably gone to 100 or more[Edited on January 18, 2009 at 1:06 AM. Reason : horn tooting, whatever]
1/18/2009 1:02:47 AM
The Avett Bros are opening for them!!!!!!!!!
1/18/2009 1:42:54 AM
high school girls all over the place
1/18/2009 2:23:29 AM
Happy for the Avetts, but I will not sell my soul to see them in this piece of shit situation. Brodie it up fags.
1/18/2009 2:27:39 AM
DMB sucks
1/18/2009 1:43:52 PM
1/18/2009 2:10:10 PM
yeah, hating on DMB is now as cliche as liking them, it's not worth it
1/18/2009 2:19:10 PM
when they shelved the lillywhite sessions they basically lost me forever
1/18/2009 3:57:33 PM
1/18/2009 7:24:08 PM
I would like to go, but it's a Wednesday at the end of the semester as I am approaching finals.also, ticketmaster will rape you in fees any chance they get. I like how they charge you a fee to print out the ticket yourself.
1/18/2009 7:37:21 PM
^actually no, it was free to have them mailed USPS to me or to print them myself. i was shocked they weren't charging to self-print. but this was LiveNation. Ticketmaster might still charge to print them yourself.i'm still actually really pissed about this. last year i bought Buffett and Chesney (both of which you'd consider to be really big "corporate" shows) and each of those shows only had about $10 in extra fees per ticket. though i bought those tickets through Ticketmaster, and these tickets were purchased through LiveNation since Ticketmaster wasn't selling them. i wonder if that could be the reason? does LiveNation just charge more?i would have just waited and bought tickets at the show but i have a friend flying in from chicago and i'm taking two days off work, so showing up to tailgate and finding no lawn seats for sale (or finding them for sale even higher than $50/ea) would really be a bummer.[Edited on January 18, 2009 at 8:11 PM. 1/18/2009 8:09:13 PM
whats the deal with having a row and seat # in the lawn?
1/18/2009 8:13:35 PM
i will probably be going to the charlotte show for my sister's bday!
1/18/2009 8:14:07 PM
^^haha i was wondering that myself. i got row 9 seats 69-70. i can't say i've ever bought tickets from LiveNation before, so maybe that's just how they do it?
1/18/2009 8:19:42 PM
1/18/2009 9:25:51 PM
do people even still listen to local radio? we've had XM (aka Sirius) for awhile.
1/18/2009 9:32:56 PM
1/18/2009 10:22:36 PM
1/18/2009 11:03:50 PM
that makes sense, i've just never known them to do that in the past. i think they are going through a lot of different owners because they keep changing the name of the place so maybe they are just changing the policies and shit too. who knows. im tryin to see dave in raleigh and charlotte this year. i saw him front row in charleston last year and it was sick
1/18/2009 11:38:41 PM
Gotcha... I've noticed it on tickets for several shows but don't know how long they've been doing that. I listened to DMB more years ago but haven't as much lately. I've enjoyed the shows I've been to - just gets too expensive!
1/18/2009 11:46:13 PM
yeah it's unbelievable how much they can get away with charging. i'm sure clear channel gets a shit ton of the money without doing any work. it's a shame because more people would come out if it wasnt so expensive
1/19/2009 1:32:29 AM
1/19/2009 9:02:53 AM
so are they permanently replacing Roi or what
1/19/2009 9:18:00 AM
1/19/2009 9:18:22 AM
3 hours is more time to drink beer!
1/19/2009 10:29:11 AM
1/19/2009 12:45:13 PM
If you all want to hear a donkey braying for a few hours it turns out that the Dixie Classic is far cheaper.
1/19/2009 1:15:29 PM
^x5, yeah they're replacing him with the guy who finished out the summer tour last year. he's from bela fleck and the flecktones. pretty fucking good, just can't be the same as roi
1/19/2009 1:30:02 PM
1/19/2009 2:08:47 PM
LOOK AT MELOOK AT MEI HATE DMB TOO!!!!!!1 Haven't been to a Dave show in a while, they kinda lost me for a bit, but with Avett Brothers opening I'll be there.
1/19/2009 2:15:36 PM
I noticed Tickemaster had a map of the lawn and it was sectioned off, but I'm hoping that's not the case.
1/21/2009 11:14:31 AM
the lawn at walnut creek normally has a section called "family lawn" which is for those who have little kids. they won't let you carry alcohol into the family lawn. of course, at a dave concert, i'm not so sure the family lawn would be a good idea [Edited on January 21, 2009 at 11:43 AM. Reason : /]
1/21/2009 11:43:36 AM
the map i saw had the entire lawn sectioned, and just a tiny strip in back on the hill that said "lawn seating"
1/21/2009 11:46:43 AM
1/21/2009 12:17:17 PM
^you don't have to be fucked up to enjoy it. i'm just saying that most of the people there will be fucked up. same goes for a buffett concert. i, too, like to judge people solely on the type of concerts they enjoy attending.
1/21/2009 6:07:10 PM
did they replace the one dead black guy with a new black guy yet?
1/21/2009 6:38:25 PM
I didn't realize people still listened to dave (or went to his shows) until I saw this thread.
1/21/2009 6:49:31 PM
1/21/2009 7:01:26 PM
so you're saying that there is one type of music that everyone should listen to and one type that everyone should go against?? like this, don't like this, hate this? what kind of generic world do you live in? everyone is entitled to their own opinions. of course, if you want to go along with the crowd like a lemming then that's your prerogative. [Edited on January 21, 2009 at 7:13 PM. Reason : .]
1/21/2009 7:12:21 PM
Hahahahahah.Actually, I'm suggesting quite the opposite.Stop listening to shitty bands in shitty venues and paying way too much money for it. ]
1/21/2009 7:17:16 PM
1/21/2009 7:21:32 PM
For the amount of money you spent to sit a few hundred feet from Dave Matthews and let the sound leak into the air, you could go see eight AWESOME local bands that have very diverse sounds at the WKNC benefit, your money would go to charity, and you'd still have enough to buy all the beer you could drink on both nights.
1/21/2009 7:23:40 PM
Obviously you don't understand what I'm saying. I like DMB. I want to see them in concert. You don't like them, and that's fine. That is your opinion. You don't want to see them, and that's fine too. But don't come in here and tell me I'm wasting my money on a shitty band at a shitty venue, because it's your opinion and your opinion is not the end-all-be-all of music. Get off your high horse, and get out of this thread. Isn't there a superbly awesome local band that is just begging for you to support them? Geez.
